House of the Dead - the new King!?
« on: February 11, 2004, 03:01:30 AM »
Could it be??  A videogame-based movie that now holds the crown of worst ever made?  I think it could be true.

5% at Rotten Tomatoes (ouch!)

Here are some quotes from a popular board I visit:

Quote
Trust me, either Street Fighter was a godsend compared to HOTD. Seriously, This is worse than Than a Gigli/Adrenaline sandwich stuffed inside a rotting copy of Hellcats being played backwards.

Quote
I\'ve seen Street Fighter, Super Mario Brothers, Double Dragon.....

I\'ve seen Gigli, Ghost Ship, Darkness Falls, and several of the worst reviewed movies of the year (or past few years).....

None of them even hold a candle to House of the Dead. It was so relentlessly bad I couldn\'t believe it. I knew it was supposed to be crap, but I thought maybe I could enjoy it on the shoot-em-up fun campy level. No such luck. Stay far far away from this one.

This is the biggest piece of S*** ever released. I was never so pissed off watching a movie as I was during this one. Can\'t say I wasn\'t warned though, but you think "it can\'t be that bad"...IT CAN!

Muhaha they use bullet-time whenever they can, and even whenever they can\'t.  Plus they use footage from the actual game!?  Not even Netflix worthy!  But for some reason I want to rent it just to see how bad it is.

Saw it opening day and bought it on the night it came out.
It sucks, but it\'s good fun.

July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Well...it\'s a "Leave your brain by the door" type of movie.

Capcom and I saw it opening night, to an empty cinema. We had a MST3K ordeal going on. We was constantly cracking on the movie and having a good ole\' time. When I saw it was out on DVD one Tuesday night (midnight), I picked it up and I\'ve watched it a couple times since then. It\'s a mindless fun flick. Stupid? Yes. Boring? Nope. You won\'t be bored, as there is always something to make fun of.

Also on the extra\'s, there is some decent interviews with Romero and Savini on the next \'Dead\' flick.

I thought the movie was a blast in theatre. It was camp to the point I did not feel bad talking during it.

So true. One of the more enjoyable experiences at the cinema as of late.
