al-Qaida already has nukes?

Quote
A pan-Arab newspaper has said al-Qaida bought tactical nuclear weapons from Ukraine in 1998 and is storing them in safe places for possible use.

[...]

The newspaper claimed al-Qaida bought the weapons in suitcases in a deal arranged when Ukrainian scientists visited the Afghan city of Kandahar in 1998.

[...]

Ukraine inherited nuclear weapons from the Soviet Union but in 1994 it agreed to send 1900 nuclear warheads to Russia and sign up to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

After the Soviet Union broke up in 1991, a former Russian National Security Adviser, Alexander Lebed, said that up to 100 portable suitcase-sized bombs were unaccounted for.

Moscow has denied such weapons existed, but Lebed said each one was equivalent to 1000 tons of TNT and could kill as many as 100,000 people.

Surely if that were true then they would have used them on 9/11. The 737s were utterly shocking but a nuke would have had a far greater effect (greater in damage, NOT goodness, just to clarify).

There are so many stories floating around as to what happened to all of Russias old nukes. Why would Russian nukes end up being sold to the Afghans that totally owned them in battle anyway, nothing adds up.

Yes, a lot of these stories going around.

Well if it holds any water, my advice to everyone is Duck and cover, duck and cover.

You\'ll find me above the Arctic Circle. ;)

Duck & cover ......

That’s the real life equivalent of Wiley Coyote holding up a tiny umbrella to protect himself from a massive falling boulder.

I wish people could just understand, that if you keep a people constantly living in fear of something outside of that people, they won\'t question what their leader says.
