Question!
« on: March 11, 2004, 05:16:04 AM »
If I were to take my PS2 online would I have to pay a monthly fee to be on the internet just like Xbox Live? Or would it be free and I would only have to buy a network adapter and hook it up.

It is free to play online with the ps2.

You just pay for the network adapter, the game disk and whatever internet provider you use.

The only time you will have to pay a monthly fee is for Massive Multiplayer Role Playing Games, like Everquest or Final Fantasy XI online.

doubtful we would need to pay with PS3.

you pay with Xbox because Microsoft use their own server, and developers need to use Microsoft Xbox programs Librairies to develop their online games to find on Microsoft servers.

While Sony tell their dev. you want online game, develop it yourself :)
can\'t see why not!

shouldn\'t it be "Question?", and not "Question!"?

But the word question isn\'t a question in itself. With the title of the topic he was announcing he had a question. Had the contents of his post been asking, for example, whether a particular sentence was a question, then it would be fitting to put "Question?" as the topic title.

Right I\'m going to get a Network Adapter tomorrow, I have a

- BT Voyager100 ADSL modem (external usb)
- VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter
- 1394 Net Adapter

Installed on my pc, can I run a cable to the ethernet adapter from the Network Adapter to allow me to play online or do I need some other hardware?

It should work fine.. Just make sure to set up a network in Windows.

I have two Network cards, one for the ADSL modem and the other for the LAN (other computer or PS2).
