I have the 9700 PRO and it is a nice Vid-CArd.  It should be ok for HL2 and Doom3.   red my reply in the other thread about what I have in the computer.

Yea, makes sense.  Just a way to push product and add news to the area.  Well no matter what I\'ll wait till the new line of cards comes out and then choose what does it best for me at a reasonable price.

Half right and half wrong - the 9800 replaced the 9700 and the 9600 replaced the 9500.  Two totally separate price levels of cards.
