He had winged sandals and Hermes\' (Mercury) cap which gave him invisibility. He used his invisibility to approach Madusa and used his shield\'s reflection to guide his sword to cut off her head.
With the head of the Madusa, he was able to save Andromedae from the Kraken. The Kraken was sent by Posiedon to kill her coz her mother falsely claimed that she was more beautiful than Posiedon\'s bitches.
Hence why he sent the monster.
So, Perseus saved the chick and tapped that ass happily ever after.
