New NEW NEWS! PSP (JP) Launch and a New FF?! OMFG!!111one!

Alright.  So far, with the PSP rumors reaching 299 for a japanese launch or perhaps more and a similar price rumored in the US, I\'m happy to say those rumors have been quelched by Sony with the following details --

Sony PSP, stock version with no extras - 19,800 yen or $185.00 US.
Sony PSP, with MS DUO, Remote Headphone - 24,800 yen or 235.00 US.

Absolutely AMAZING.  In the US, those prices will be PLENTY cheaper.  My guess is that the special edition will be $199 US and the regular will be $169.99 US when it launches here.  This handheld console war just got REALLY interesting.

As for the new FF title, it\'s an action RPG called Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core.  Little is known except that it\'s an Action RPG and it\'s set for release in 2006 on the PSP.

Plus its cheaper that i thought it would be (the basic version), so i will most likely go for the Extras and get the 32 Meg Memory stick.

Kind of old news that they were marketing different versions. Nice pics of the accesoires though. I hope that battery pack packs some stamina.

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts.  iPod already has alot of competition on the way but this is major competition for them, imo.  I\'m betting Nintendo will react with a US price drop when the PSP launches stateside.

Where are all those people talking about the psp being a fortune and not being able to compete with the DS\'s low price etc?

You think Sony is taking an enormous loss on each PSP sold?  I bet they are but they can take the loss and make up for it in game sales.  

I didn\'t expect it to be below $200, no more than $300, and I was basing that off of comparable devices.  Looks like I was wrong and I can say I\'m happy I was.
