If you can program a VCR you can build a computer imo.  Either get a nerd friend to help you or look at Blue Falcon for pure performance.  Since you mentioned an FX processor I\'m assuming you have cash to spare. ;)

edit- just checked out BF, they suck.  Just build it yourself.

Workstations by Boxxtechnologies.com are real popular amongst 3D modelers/animators. They are expensive though. They have some good gaming rigs too I believe, which are cheaper.

i\'m looking to build a new pc as well, but gaming won\'t be the primary use (although it\'s a consideration).

I think i\'m going with an Athlon 64 and the 6600 GT.  It\'s a pretty impressive video card for 200 bones if you ask me.  Is it still worth going with the Athlon 64 if gaming isn\'t the main function of the system?  Would a p4 do better all around in apps and such?  And what about PCIe?  Should I get my system with it?

I\'ve got a few months to make up my mind.
