"Same technology – different application. As many of you know, Sony will be applying a coating to the screen of the PSP in order to protect from everyday use. They will also be using this technology to protect Blu-Ray discs, and the results are amazing.

One of the major disadvantages to going with a non-clamshell design, is that the screen is open to scratches, scuffs, and marks which can make viewing the LCD difficult if enough damage has been done. To remedy this, Sony is using a new technology to protect the screens from such occurrences. Applied as a single layer, it will prevent scratches. When layered, it will withstand steel wool and permanent marker. In fact, the only damage done to the layered coating was with a knife – which is highly unlikely an occurrence (unless you have homicidal tendencies towards your PSP).

Sony will also use the technology to protect Blu-Ray discs, which is why the current version has disregarded the plastic casing of the original prototype."

I guess it was worth the wait though...no more using Skip Doctor on ALL MY GAMES...:D But as for CDs...*grumbles* :rolleyes:

I was worried about this aspect (the screen being open). Hopefully this does what it says it does. I mean what if you drop it on something (concrete maybe?)? These things happen.

It says it can withstand steel wool, so I\'m sure dropping it won\'t hurt it...

EDIT: Wait...you\'re talking about the PSP, right? Well there\'s a solution...don\'t be a clumsy @ss...or at least try hard not too :D The only thing I usually drop is my damn cell phone. They just keep getting smaller and smaller, they just slide right out of your pocket

Exactly the reason why im worried. Sometimes you just cant help but screw up sometimes. It may and may not happen but if it does i would hope that it doesnt kill it.

I\'d probably just carry mine around in like, my laptop case or something...as I carry it everywhere. I only used to carry around my GBA like that...but I wear such baggy pants that my pockets are like 20 feet deep. It\'s just when I wear shorts is when I have to worry.
