Rumor Mill: Halo 3
« on: November 16, 2004, 10:43:07 AM »
So there are some rumors flying around about Halo 3, when we\'ll see it, who\'s working on it, etc.

I\'ve read from several places that if you beat Halo 2 on legendary there is a message at the end of the credits that reads "Coming February 9th".  Speculation is that this will be the unvieling of Halo 3 that could be an Xbox 2 launch title, others are suggesting it will be downloadable content for Halo 2.

Could Halo 3 really be in development...

We\'ll show you a capability inside the Office System today that delivers on what we call Information Rights Management. We\'re working on the next version -- I hate to tell you this confidentially but I\'ll have to swear you to secrecy now -- we\'re working on the next version of Xbox right now and we\'re working on Halo 2 and Halo 3, the two newest versions of the game.

Another rumor is that Rare is providing the Perfect Dark Zero engine for Halo 3\'s use, no evidence to support that.

lets face it....

If Bungie didn\'t do a HALO 3 after all the money they made from HALO 2. Then they would need their nogging\'s examined.

The part that gets me is the Halo 2 comment - do they mean a "Directors cut" of the game? If so, that is one of the dumbest things. I disagree\'d with it when Capcom done it with the original Resident Evil and I disagree with it again.

As for Halo 3 - that was a given. My guess is a seperate part of the development team has been workin\' on that for quite sometime. At least gettin\' things ready for when they get the Xbox 2 SDK (if they don\'t already have them).

As for Rare providing anything, MS better get them to do something. As it is MS has invested a lot of money into them and got NOTHING back. Infact, I would say, as it stands, Rare was one of the worst purchases MS could of made. I guess we will see for sure when PD0 comes out, if ever.

Rare has been quite the disappointment this generation.  I enjoyed Starfox Adventures but it\'s far from their best work.  One thing they are good at and that\'s pushing a system to make drop dead gorgeous games.  I really wouldn\'t be surprised if MS has Rare share their game engines with other first party studios,  it would largely cut down on development time.

PD0 is still in development, though it\'s believed to be an Xbox 2 title now.

So despite Halo 1 and Halo 2 being the two greatest games of all time, let it be known that Halo 3.. will also be the greatest game of all time when it is released.

Right behind anything with "GTA" on it, of course!

Most likely BS...yanked from the TXB Halo 2 forums.

Quote
I read on another forum:

"I\'m sorry for being so secretive, but I can get in a lot of trouble for this. I am a former employee for Bungie, and resigned shortly before the release of Halo 2 (ok... \'resign\' is a stretch; I was probably going to get fired anyway). Even many of the employees know little about what is behind "February 9th" though since I worked in the publications department of Bungie, I am a bit more enlightened. Anyway, as much as this may surprise many of you, 3 years was STILL not enough time to achieve what Bungie had in mind. But, of course, it was imperitive to release Halo 2 before the holiday season (duh...), and therefore a compromise was made. While I am not sure what exactly it will consist of, a substantial addon will be included on a \'demo disc\' that will come with a XBox magazine. As of now, Bungie is still negotiating with many publishers such as OXM and XBN, but whichever one it will be, you can expect a nice suprise in February when the special 4 month anniversary Halo 2 edition magazine comes out. Now, my prediction is that it will provide you all with an actually conclusion to Halo 2, and perhaps more maps and/or a patch for the glitches. That is my opinion, though. And to clear up an ongoing rumor--there will be NO Halo 3. At least that was everyone\'s idea when I was still part of Bungie. Things may have changed but they were VERY sure that they wouldn\'t change their minds."

I\'m pretty sure that\'s BS, but it\'s interesting to think about.

I\'ll just have a guess at what Halo 3 will be..

Master Chief in a massive battle for earth.

I even thought of a great slogan! Earth will never be the same again!! I really should bring this idea to Bungie.

It\'s really funny how Bungie will be forced to use that angle again when advertising HALO 3.

Consumer: "Okay, what the hell? Weren\'t we supposed to do this last game? Not interested."

I don\'t think it\'s funny. I think Bungie are GENIUSes..ses...es\'

...!

They figured out the ultimate way to create an everlastling string of sequals..

A CONTINUOUS LOOP OF THE STORYLINE

What do Square know, creating an entire different universe with each game just to keep creating sequals, when they could just cut the game in half, and keep repeating it! Idiots!

I\'d be willing to bet it will be something along the lines of what he said at the very end...

[sp]I\'m gonna finish this fight[/sp]

Question for you guys, how is Halo 2 like the first game in terms of story?  It\'s a sequel in every sense of the word, it continued what the first game started and it revealed more of the Halo universe.

Don\'t forget random battles.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.
