Battlefield 2 preview - with new gameplay vids

Before it didnt look all that different from BF42 or BFV.. But after reading the preview, this thing sounds a lot different, commander mode? Really cool, now this just warped up on my 10 most wanted list.

i just hope they fix the flying. Especially helicopters. That and i hope they come up with a different gameplay than the capture the 5 bases and protect. Just gets tedious and boring driving around flag to flag, maybe crossing someone. Or driving a long ways to the flag and then dieing. Or your teamates do all the killing and your the only one getting the flags. and if u dont the other team get all of them.

The game is coming out in Q1 2005, so not to a too long wait.

Well it sounds like the game will be totally different.. Some snips.

• You can now sprint for a short distance. The sprinting meter will differ from class to class.
• Each side can have their team broken down into squads. A Squad leader can give order too his squad or request orders from the Commander.
• DICE has implemented Voice over IP in the game, so there´s no need for thirdparty software for communications anymore.
• There will be an Commander present on the battlefield. He will see the game like an RTS game, he has the ability to order artillery strikes, drop items (via airdrop I suspect) and make waypoints for the soldiers to follow.

Who can be the commander is determined by the rank of a player (all players will be ranked by EAs new system).

The commander function is by far the greatest change from BF/BFV. It will be a tough thing to balance properly, but combined with the squad system it will make for a much more organized and interesting game, both in public play and clanwar.   Overall it feels like BF2 has alot more information available to the player, and more different options - benefitting the thinking player more than the aiming player.    

Oh, and graphically beautiful of course, but that\'s just eye candy ;-)
