LONDON (Reuters) - A trio of gamblers who used laser technology to win over a million pounds from London\'s Ritz casino have been told they can keep their winnings, police say.
The Hungarian woman and two Serbian men used a laser scanner hidden in a mobile phone linked to a computer to gauge the speed of the ball and the roulette wheel, and hence the number most likely to come up.
They were able to do the calculations swiftly enough to place their bets as required before the roulette wheel has gone round three times.
On the first night they won 100,000 pounds, and on the second took home another 1.2 million pounds, the Sunday Times newspaper reported.
It said all three were arrested after the casino instigated enquiries, and their funds frozen. But police told Reuters on Saturday the case had been closed and the three allowed to leave with their money because they had broken no laws.
The newspaper said casinos throughout the country were examining security as a result of the case.

That is pretty freaking intense that they would go through the trouble for all of this. Couldn\'t they just invent something, patent it and get rich that way?
