Yep, it gets released tomorrow and i think 10th here In Aus for PC.

Anyone plan on getting it?

I hated the ps2 versions of the GTA series.  So i never fully got into SA on ps2.

Some Improvements

  • As Rockstar has done in the past, they\'ve paid special attention to the control scheme used by PC gamers.  Following in its predecessor\'s footsteps, San Andreas is using the same WASD movement setup with the mouse to look around and aim.  The mousewheel will cycle through your weapon selection and holding the right mouse button down will drop you into aiming mode.  If you want you can always fall back on the PS2\'s auto-aim/lock on technique.  Independent camera control while driving is still in there allowing your to get some nice angles on your car chases.
  • The PC version also following in the PS2\'s footsteps eliminating many of the annoying load times and on a typical PC the load times will be even less noticeable than on the PS2.
  • Returning from previous PC GTA releases are the extra radio station that will play your personal MP3s and the replay feature which will let you record and share brief gameplay moments.  Rockstar goes one step further adding the ability to drop in existing commercials and call signs into your own MP3 radio station.
  • It goes without saying that the PC will offer better graphics than any of the consoles allowing Rockstar to utilize the original, high-res textures, character models, vehicle models, etc.  The PC version will also feature a better lighting model showing off more realistic shadowing effects along with a better draw distance.
  • Mods aren\'t exactly supported out of the box, but Rockstar\'s more open ended file formats should be just as mod friendly as previous version.

some quotes from pcpowerplay mag

Quote

"I\'m not willing to totally rule out pop-up or frame-rate clips, but the way the game looks and moves on the PC pops a cap in the ass of the PS2 version."

"As you walk CJ around you\'ll see the shadows of over-head power lines fall across his body, as you drive you see lights bounce off the sheen of your car (if it\'s clean enough) and when you fire your nitrous you see these brilliantly billowing jets of flame."

"Yep, SA is going to be mod friendly. After the devs saw people make the unfinished Dodo fly and develop multiplayer game mods, the figured they owed the fans a slightly easier path to tweaking their favourite game."

Been playing for some time now, at the 3rd city Las Ventura doing the casino missions for wu-su or whatever his name is. Game is great, good framerate, improved effects and the good ol pc aiming system. :)

Dang I can just imagine those load times.  That was probably the most painful part of the PS2 version next to the graphics.

I hope the PS3 version will have some neato online features like the ability to start a gang with your buddies. :)

I\'ve heard people on other forums complain about it being glitchy as hell, and when it starts to rain, the fps drops to less than 5.

Also heard of quite a few CTD\'s as well.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you. I don't care where you've  been or what you plan to do. I am the resurrection and I am the light. I  couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.

Yea the rain seems to have a odd effect on the game, i think it creates a memory hole of some sort. My brothers pc has the exact same odd problem with rain and he\'s on a 6800GT. So i know its not my cards limitations.  Apart from that the game works fine for me.

well i finished the story line part tonight at 75% complete.  I found it great in some parts but lacking in others, the only thing i wish they did was make it like vice city in the way you buy businesses etc. The only thing u seem to buy is the garage and wang cars. Everything else are just safe houses.
