Only the TOP selling, most popular Xbox games will be backwards compatible.

For those of you complaining, remember it\'s better than nothing since the Xbox360 was never engineered hardware wise to be backwards compatible. It\'s my understanding that the emulation will be done Via Software. I applaud M$ for at least making the effort to give gamers the ability to play some of the XBOX best games on the new system.

I wonder how PS3 will be backward compatible if XBOX 360 require emulation...

I hate to say things without a source, but I remember their goal is to have 95% of Xbox games emulated. The top selling xbox games are their first priority and will all work from launch.

XBOX360 requires emulation since XBOX was using a Gforce and the XBOX360 will be using an ATI graphics card. They use different drivers so it will need emulation.

Unfortunately for MS unlike Sony, they dont have control on XBOX\'s hardware.Just as NVIDIA256 ment Sony can simplify their previous hardware so they can do it through including chip components in the PS3.

I am still not getting it.  Sony is using NVidia for the ps3, but ps2 and psOne is different.  If ps3 can include a chip to make it backward compatible.  Why does xbox360 have to go all the trouble to require emulation, instead of just including a chip???

Because as I said Sony had control over PS1\'s and PS2\'s hardware thus simplifying it as time passed enabling them to have simplified hardware components in PS3.

MS cant do the same thing though since they took "off the shelf" hardware parts from various companies.
