« on: March 06, 2007, 11:11:40 AM »
The impressions for the demo were underwhelming, but there\'s still hope for this one. Here\'s the press release.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – March 6, 2007Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS), in partnership with urban lifestyle powerhouse Def Jam Interactive, announced today that the urban, hip hop style DEF JAM: ICON™ has shipped to stores nationwide. Infusing the hottest in urban, hip hop beats with an advanced, next generation, urban hip hop fighting gameplay system, DEF JAM: ICON will be available to urban communities for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system.

Use the hip hop music to your urban advantage to strike down your hip hop opponent with DEF JAM: ICON’s new urban Building’s with Bass fighting mechanic. The musically charged urban environments become alive to the hip hop beat, creating urban lifestyle hazards that you and your homies can use to defeat your hip hop opponent. Players can even trigger the hip hop beats to set off the hazards at the right time with the game’s unique and decidedly urban DJ Controls. Never before has hip hop music become an instrumental part in the actual hip hop inspired, urban gameplay of a videogame.

With brand new hip hop tracks from urban hip hop’s greatest, DEF JAM: ICON delivers the ultimate urban hip hop soundtrack. Big Boi, Lil Jon, Ludacris, T.I., and Young Jeezy are just a few hip hop names featured on both the soundtrack and in the urban game. To keep the hip hop music fresh and urban, players can load their own hip hop MP3’s into the game version for the urban Xbox 360 and have their favorite hip hop beats drive the urban environment and gameplay.

Become a hip hop icon and build your urban empire from the ground up in the all-new single-player hip hop story mode. Written by renowned urban Hollywood hip hop writers Virgil Williams and Cle “Bone” Sloan, DEF JAM: ICON delivers an intense hip hop storyline unrivaled in any other hip hop lifestyle/fighting game. Discover new talent, build an urban record label and do whatever it takes to make it to the tip top of hip hop.
