Your Saturday
« on: April 15, 2006, 09:14:32 PM »
Just because I\'m bored and so proud of myself...

I spent pretty much the whole day changing the alternator in my car.  This is a 96 maxima so not only are the bolts rusted on like a b!tch, but it\'s a FWD sedan, meaning everything is crammed into the front under the hood with a big engine to boot.

I must have 2 dozen visible scrapes all over my hands & arms, and extremely fresh breath since I didn\'t brush all day, but hot dayum it feels good to save ~$600 in a day\'s work.

Anyway yea, first time doing something this complex so I\'m in heat. :gfight:

edit- nice idea c, changed title :)

When I was a teenager, I used to replace the alternator in the shitty Ford LTD station wagon I was driving at the time.  That was a RWD V8, so It was probably an easier job than what you went through on your maxima.

Today I saw the movie "Brick" It was amazing.

when i had to change my altenator when i had my maxima i found out the hard way...i was on interstate 78 right around where hwy 24 & 78 comes together in jersey,..anyway i\'m doin\' around 70 mph when all of my power just drops,..at first i thought i ran out of gas,...then i was just coasting down the road with no power,..i finally got the car over to the shoulder,..and at the time my licence was suspended, so as soon as the car stopped,..i ran out of the car and down the road to the nearest gas station and called for a tow truck...i guess the people on the hwy was lookin like "was wrong with this guy"..cause i was running from the car like it had a dead body in it...:p...

if i remember correctly the alternator is on the bottom right hand side right? i didn\'t change it myself, at the time i found this local mechanic in the hood that did work like that for about 20 bucks..:fro:...man i miss that maxima,...that was thee most reliable car i\'ve ever had. if i wasn\'t so lazy to change the radiator, before i blew the engine i\'m sure i could\'ve gotten another 100,000 miles out of it, when it died it had over 350,000 miles on it...
keep the max THX...that car will be good to you for years to come...:fro:
