Portable confusion
« on: May 06, 2006, 04:01:22 AM »
Been out of the gaming seen for a while now, too many exams etc, etc but planning on purchasing a portable games device, I figure the girlfriend cant moan at me much if I play games while travelling around. The question which one to get, any suggestions would be much appreciated taking into account the following:

1) Use to play nintendo a lot, love the playablitly and occasionally found the rigidness of playstation games frustating.
2) Top games of all time include goldeneye, zelda (cant stand the old gameboy ones though), ISS, commond and conquer (PC) and more recently played a lot of halo 2 on the x box. Only really ever got into one ever game on the playstation and that was Gran Turismo but then again I ve never played GTA for more than 10 mins and do like the look of it.

Well since you like Nintendo games so much you should go for the DS.

Since you didnt get much into Playstation games I dont think it would be wise to reckomend you a PSP. I wouldnt want to tell you to get a PSP and then be dissapointed for your purchase.

PSP apart from a few extra functions I dont know if you care about it has some great games too but you ll get a similar experience to the PS1 or PS2.

DS offers a different kind of gaming thanks to its double/touch screen. It has a bigger and a very interesting and unique library of games.

I wouldnt consider one better than the other. I dont even think they are competing each directly. They are different. But I think for your tastes a DS would be a better choice.

Why not get two DS and play some wireless funny multiplayer games with your girlfriend? ;)
(I think worms is released on it right?)

^^^ What he said.  PSP is ok but expensive. DS has more quality games at lower prices. And you should wait for the DS Lite which hits later this month I believe.

I have both the DS and PSP. Wait for the DS Lite, and pounce.

DS Lite isn\'t out yet? I thought it was. Hmm. I don\'t like the "Lite" part though. Sounds like a soft drink.

lol.

I remember my history teacher said that some companies market their diet drinks by calling it "Lite" instead of "Diet" to draw consumers who are "big" but want to drink diet drinks...  maybe the word "diet" sounds embarrasing or something.

Hahahaha. And Diet to some people also is seen negatively. "Gah, I hate my diet"
