Private Torrent sites?
« on: September 27, 2006, 07:07:39 PM »
Anyone have access to these bastard private torrent sites, or know how to get an invite?  I\'ve been trying to download some episodes of Lost that I ironically lost off my MCE comp, and am trying to catch up before the third season starts.

isn\'t this site anti-piracy?

I believe you can purchase episodes of Lost off of iTunes and TV.com.

Or rent if from Blockbuster...

Even though that link is technically not to a hosting site, I\'m sure the link will be removed once it\'s seen by a mod, unless Nolaws removes it himself.

I\'m all for anti-piracy, but for something that you can get over the air?  Come on, get a fucking life.

part of the reason its free is because there are commercials in it, I would assume when you download the files they don\'t contain those commercials anymore.  I\'m not preaching ethics, and I\'m not saying I haven\'t done it, I\'m just telling you why its still wrong.

the link can stay, as they don\'t host any data (as long as we\'re talking television shows and not cable/dvd\'s)
no worse then google video or youtube

They\'re actually trying to fight that now.

Which would be bullshit, soon they will be telling you when to take a fucking shit or when and what to listen to. Leave me the fuck alone especially if I\'m paying for a service, like TIVO or cable.

Um...that would be a bit hard to fight. And I think TiVo drives UP more viewer ratings because you can record more shows that you otherwise wouldn\'t have watched because you didn\'t have the time.

People sometimes forget that ratings are important because of the ad revenue it generates.  Unfortunately, with a few exceptions (Public, HBO), the \'good shows\' you watch on TV were written, shot, and created with advertising in mind (bottom line, people).  As advertising invades TV more and more, we might eventually see \'commercial\' free TV whereby the ads are integrated into the show (you know, product placement, even product surrounding plots).

The first \'notable\' one is 1982, with reeses pieces in ET... although I think it had been around before that.  Apple is famous for placing it\'s computers on film.

However, what I\'m talking about is worse.  There were rumors last year that coke or pepsi had attempted to \'buy\' an episode of a fairly popular cops/crime show.  The idea being that the cola product would be both background-throughout and prominent (like, used to solve the murder forensically prominent).
