EDTV is not the same as HDTV as I\'m sure you know. To say that some of the newest plasmas and LCD TVs don\'t have some amazing imagery on their screens is fooling yourself.

Did you click on the link? Its true that Sony had discontinued most of their HDTV CRT models, but again

I understand, they may still have a new model out, but production of the tubes have stopped that is a fact from the mouth of SONY. CRT IS A DEAD TECHNOLOGY, it has been phased out by the new generation of tech.

I have a 32" Sony HDTV and it looks great but I hated the fact that I needed to reinforce the FLOORS IN MY HOUSE!

Here\'s the thing I don\'t quite understand. CRT\'s have been around for over 50 years, not ever one complaint about weight and bulkiness. Not until plasma\'s came out did people start to complain about the Size of crt\'s. Don\'t get me wrong, the new tv\'s are much better space savers, easier to move(as long as it\'s not a 60 inch) more adjustable etc...

It\'s also funny that sheep were willing to pay 20,000 dollars for a plasma when they first came out, and the picture quality was absolute shit. Then again 80% of tv owner\'s have there tubes set with color saturation, over brightness and contrast and run them over 6500k temp and think the picture is top notch. They have been conditioned to prefer inferior picture quality. For this reason it is of no suprise that many people love LCD and think it\'s ub3r 1337.

Yes, we lived with it \'cause we did not have an option. The Sony I have is still heavy whether plasma existed or not. :)

The people that pay tons of money when new tech comes out should be thanked. In the end they are the ones that get the ball rolling for us poor slobs.

I do agree that most people wouldn\'t know a good picture if it bit them on the ass.

I\'m going to play Devil\'s advocate here. I had a 19" CRT, good quality, no complaints.  However, I wanted to up the size, I have my TV on a shelf, anything larger than 19" (CRT) would not have fit and probably would have collapsed the shelf had I tried to fit it on there.  Sometimes in life we have to sacrifice a little quality to get what we want.  I fit a 36" widescreen LCD where a 24" CRT would not have fit.  Could I have bought a bigger shelf? Sure, but that adds to the cost of the TV, and I use it for other things than just a tv as well.  For me, it was a convient way to upgrade to HDTV without having to redesign my relatively small room to accomodate a larger TV.  It didn\'t cost me an arm and a leg either, LCD\'s arent THAT expensive.

Why would I want a tv made up of a series of tubes? I have an internet for that.

Had a similar situation personally and I now use a 32" Sony Bravia.

Exactly.  That\'s the exact reason I bought an LCD.  Bravo.  You saw right through me.  Enjoy your superior picture quality, I\'ll be too distracted banging all these hot chicks who want my wang because I have an LCD TV.  UNF UNF!

Ryu, I have the same set as you.  I mistakenly wrote 36", but I\'m still impressed with the 32" Bravia.  I don\'t care about specs as long as I\'m happy with the picture in front of me.

anyywayyy...

I tried out cored\'s idea of putting it on my monitor and it turned out great. Madden\'s got a little more blur and jaggies than normal, but overall still looks really good (a lot better than my TV).

Burnout, road to the fifa world cup, and lost world (demos) looked awesome.

Pretty much set on getting one when school calms down in a little while.

Just two things i have to figure out:
1) Switching the monitor from PC to 360 and vice versa is a pain in the ass, with those tiny screws at the weird angle. Anyone know if theres an A-B switch for that? Or a two in one kind of thing..
2) Audio. Its not really long enough to plug into my PC (which is the only thing connected to speakers. Not even sure if that would work.

think i figured it out.

Can use this to connect the PC and 360 to my monitor http://www1.shopping.com/xPO-CP_Technologies_2_Port_KVM_Switch_with_Built_in_Cables (i have something identical..just by iogear instead). My VGA cable came with a male-female switcher, so all the plugs would work.

For audio, i think if i just unplug my speakers/subwoofer and plug the cables from the VGA cable into an extesion with 2 plug-ins and 2 outs..still have to buy that.

nothing like procrastinating on studying calculus..

Thanks for the link.  I need to get a switching cable like that also.

BTW, I\'ve been transporting my 360 back and forth between the HDTV in one room, and my PC in the other room.  Everytime I disconnect it from the power supply, the internal clock gets reset.  I have to fix it everytime because my game saves get datestamped wrong, and sorted to the bottom of the list.  It\'s annoying.  You\'d think they would have designed it with a battery that could retain the clock settings.
