Evis is right that TimeWarner Cable is a parent company of AOL...
After we received a bill last month from timewarner cable and they overcharged us of $94.65. I decided to switch to a differen ISP. 2 weeks later, I finally had the gut to called AT&T SBC, and Verizon. But both have no service available in my area. So I finally called Earthlink and made a switch. Earthlink said that I can make a switch and no need to return the cable modem, and no need for installation as i can use the current modem I am using right now because TimeWarner is also the parent company of Earthlink.
But Earthlink told me that the service will be $29.95 for the first 6 months, and only $41.95 afterward for the same download/upload speed from roadrunner because both are run by TimeWarner Cable.
So, I called TimeWarner to made a switch, but TimeWarner was being hard on me and said that if I made a switch, its still be $44.95 because I already had the promotional price from Roadrunner before. After the conversation, I realized there were flaws in his story. So I called back to Earthlink and Earthlink promised that it will be $29.95 for the 6 six months, and only $41.95 afterward. So, I called Timewarner again and finally Timewarner promised me it will be $29.95 for the first six months if I switched to Earthlink and told me they will make the price adjustments from the switch from Roadrunner to Earthlink and other adjustments that they overcharged us in the first place and will be balance out on the bills.
That time, I was thinking if Timewarner still charged us $44.95, I will cancel the account and use dial up if necessary and they can also have the $94.65 that they overcharged us from previous month. My mom said that they think I really needed the internet badly and only Timewarner can provide the service in my area, and that they can dictate the price. So she told me if that\'s the case, cancel it and get service from dial-up if necessary. She really does make a very good point there.
It took me like 2 days from calls that I made between TimeWarner and Earthlink to finally have the switch done with $29.95 for the first 6 months. Because of the batteries on my cordless phone run out during calls from TimeWarner and Earthlink and from waiting from busy line lines.
This time around, I made an account online on timewarner to check my bills on the internet. 2 days later after the switched to Earthlink, I was surprised to find out that they overpaid us more than they overcharged us in the first place. The bill said that they owed us -$132.64. I was thinking about emailing them that they are overpaying us, unless that is a way of repaying us for the compensation, as a way to redeem themselve, then i will appreciate it, if not they can keep some of those money because i rather that they owe us than we owe them.
Until just yesterday, I checked my bill online, and found out that they redo the math, and the price adjustments is only -$37.99 that they owed us, not -$132.64. Somehow, they remove $94.65 that they charged us, and since we paid $94.65. It made it seems like they owed us -$94.65 and added that with the adjustments of $-37.99, it total -$132.64. It seems like they redo the math and included the $94.65 that they charged which will subtract off the -$94.65 that we paid them last month, so its only -$37.99 that they actually owed us and this $-37.99 will be balance out for my upcoming next month service, which is $29.95...and so for now, they only owe us $-8.04...
That means, Over a month of Internet Service I don\'t have to pay anymore money because of the price adjustment.
I am very happy I switched to Earthlink because of the $29.95 per month for the first six months and only $41.95 afterward and the price adjustments seem more reasonable. Hey, its still expensive, but still a better deal than roadrunner...even though both roadrunner and earthlink are run from timewarner cable...
