Hopefully, in time consoles will be like DVD players. Every DVD player can play every DVD movie, but the choice of which DVD player you want to play the DVDs with is your\'s.
One DVD playermay have better sound, one better resolution, one may have this feature etc and all this will go into making your decision on which one to buy
May this be the case with consoles sooner rather then later
I guess you can say PC are kind of like that. But the problems even to this day is, if you have top of the line PC today, in one or 2 years, it will not be top of the line anymore, sure you maybe able to play new games on it. But chances are you might need to upgrade to newer pc in order to get the best performance out of the newest games like smooth frame rate and other effects.
And of course, if you pc is so old, say like 5 years or much older, chances are the this old pc can\'t handle new games graphical performance...hence, you can\'t play it at all. So you have to upgrade to new pc in order to play too...
But seriously, who knows if in the future if videogame consoles will come in many different selections and different brand and models where you can play any type of game on any different consoles you want...I doubt this will be the case in 10 years from now. In order to get the best performance out of the videogames, one need to upgrade pc if it\'s way too old to handle the graphic.
the difference between pc and consoles is consoles usually lasted as long as 5 or more years, so we don\'t have to upgrade every 1 or 2 years in order to keep up with the graphical performance since the games will be created on the same machine architecture.
