Heh, that was pretty amusing. Number 1 definitely deserved to be there.

I remember (back when Speed carried it) seeing a Lancer Rally Car smash a bird and it tore apart the whole front end up to the windshield. They do some major damage.

i think the only animal i\'ve ever hit was a squirrel...even then i didn\'t kill it...i happened to slow down just enough to pop it into the air and startle it a bit...and even tho i haven\'t hit any deers,...i have seen some deer roadkill that was just brutal...i mean it seemed like the deer\'s guts was smeared across the whole highway,..i can only think the only vehicle that could cause such damage was a 18 wheeler,...i\'ve also seen what an adult male deer can do to a car....those things can rip off your whole front end, and the rack on it\'s head doesn\'t even have to be fully matured to cause extensive damage...

Hitting a deer in a car can easily kill you. My dad is a railroad engineer, you should see what a train does to animals haha.

He has had situations where a farmers fence breaks and a heard of cows wonders out onto the tracks. Quite the mess. Nothing you can do really, not like a train can stop on a whim to avoid them. Just plow on through.

He has also told me stories of when he is driving far up north here in Canada and he runs into a moose. Some of them shake the engine, they are just so massive.

He has also hit I think around 6-8 people. Non of which were accidents, all suicides. He has been driving trains for about 20 years now and has quite the stories to tell.

Dude, you\'ve seen my area. I could seriously go deer hunting in my back yard. I\'ve seen some horrific road kill in my area.

There be Moose around here, and if you hit them in a car on the highway, you die. They\'re like brick walls.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

You have no idea how many deer I\'ve come close to hitting. Seroiusly, I\'m numb to those things now. I know when they are gonna cross the road and when they aren\'t.

Well each time it happens, VIA rail forces him to take a minimum of a month off (with pay and what not). It is also mandatory for him to go see a psychiatrist before he returns to work. For if he needs to vent or anything like that. They do their best to make sure he is all right. Only one really got to him, which was a young guy, late teens. Jump into the track from an overpass. He took extra time off for that one. But then again I think all of them have bugged him in some sort of way.

My mom and him are divorced and it was only until about last year when him and his girfriend had a baby, my little brother Aiden that he started to put them all behind him. Even tho all railway engineers sort of expect it to happen, my dads number is a lot higher than your average engineer. These days he has pretty much accepted that it was thieir choice and there was literally nothing he could do.

^^^ i was jokin\' a bit when i wrote that initial post, but it really is no joking matter....i didn\'t really know that on some level railroad engineers kinda expect it..in all seriousness i know if  i would\'ve experienced something like that, especially multiple times, i know that i would be bothered by it..good to hear your pops have had time to come to grips with it and put it behind him. :)

Hehe nah its okay to be light hearted about it :) He has a way of telling me about it like "just part of the job" while not disrespecting the dead.

my dad used to be a engineer driving trains. He\'s also experienced the pleasure of suicides and animal kills. Only one that ever got to him was a dog that went onto the track. Got split in half and was still alive. He had to kill it.

In dads army days he saw shit that most people wouldn\'t dream of. He won\'t talk about it. Only what he was trained as.   Sniper / Recon. He saw some suicides in the army too, mostly at the barracks.    I\'ve only found one dood that killed himself and that wasn\'t gory.

stupid birds....

Birds are very stupid animals, which offers for good humor. I\'ve hit a deer and it wasn\'t cool, luckily it ran in to my car and mearly bounced off the side. My wife on the other hand has hit a bull and almost died if it would have been only a few inches over.

I Remember before i had the stroke, i was working for the welding supply company. One particular day, i ended up running the southern vermont route brattleboro and such. Well there i am as happy as can be beautiful day the windows are down, i just cross the massachusetts vermont border. When a sparrow slams into the passenger side window post, poor little guy exploded. Imagine this the passenger side door, half the windshield and me are covered in blood. Whats left of it\'s body is laying on the seat, and a mile up the road the vermont state police have set up a mandatory weigh station for trucks. All im going to say is when the police saw the bloody side of the truck they motioned me aside, then when i stepped out and i had blood all over me. Boy i got grilled, but it turned into smiles and laughter when the truth came out.
