GTA IV 360, problems.

The Xbox 360\'s lack of a guaranteed hard disk is creating limitations in Grand Theft Auto IV\'s development, Rockstar has acknowledged.

During an interview with our partners in crime at Official PlayStation Magazine, Rockstar\'s creative vice president Dan Houser was asked: "On PS3 you\'ve got a guarantee that every machine is going to have a hard-drive and, with Blu-ray, you\'ve got plenty of storage, whereas on Xbox 360 there\'s no guarantee of a hard-drive and you\'re working with the DVD format. Does that create limitations?" To which he replied, "Yep."

He continued, "To be honest with you we haven\'t solved all those riddles yet."

I sure hope this doesn\'t mean that Rockstar would handicap the 360 version of the game.

Funny pic, but this sounds like a normal development speed bump. No biggy.

Yea, the fuckers that bought it without the HD can just go purchase it if they really want to play the game, fuck\'em.

I bet that\'s what\'s gonna happen.

Unless there\'s some clause by MS that all 360 versions must be included for game play if a game is to be developed for the 360.

lol

pc is dead until dx10 and stuff becomes common place. It will liven back up since it will be better than 360 and ps3..but even then not many people are going to have 2,000 dollar computers.

Times have changed unfortunatly. Before, rainbow six and ghost recon SUCKED on console. Now theyre fun (not as strategic as the old pc games) and affordable. Call of duty 3= not even on pc; R6 vegas= barely any ubi support on pc; ghost recon= meh. All the pc really has is oblivion and WoW.

Considering i was a huge pc guy, i dont even touch bf2 or raven shield.

it\'s kinda weird...i had a ps2 harddrive mainly so i could see the video playback at halftime in espn nfl 2k5...and there was virtually zero support for it, while i\'m not sure how much the xbox harddrive was utilized, it seems at least in this generation that dev\'s want harddrives and more space for these consoles....

Wasnt the HDD considered standard in the 360 at first? At least people expected it would be, because I remember all hell broke loose when they announced the core package.

Sony otoh never confirmed having a HDD as standard up to very late in the development stage of PS3. I remember Kutaragi saying something like "HDD is required for games, but we havent ruled on it coming standard with the system".. Everyone was like, whaa? Then a few months later, at E3 2006 no less Hirai announced that it would come standard with the system.

I wonder is Sonys delay of announcing a standard harddrive had anything to do with MS not making it standard?`Maybe they thought they could save a buck?

Save a buck or make an extra buck. Probably the latter.

20GB HDDs, even two years ago, were very cheap.
