DDR question

I\'ve been reading up about DDR ram getting ready for building my PC and I want to know if DDR3 is an immediate must where videogames are concerned.

I\'d really like to stick with a DDR2 Mobo and 4 gigs of PC8500 but I don\'t want to put that money down if its going to be obsolete soon. I\'m asking because DDR3 is extremely expensive it seems and would like to avoid using it for maybe a year or so? I\'m not sure.

DDR3 is a non-issue right now. You\'ll be perfectly happy with inexpensive DDR2.

I\'ve read up on them and they all appear to be compatible but maybe i\'m missing something one of you tech guys isn\'t?

Looks great Joker. If you want to save a little cash, you could get a regular 8800 GTX and perhaps OC it a bit if you want. I can\'t remember how much faster the Ultra is, but it\'s a bit more expensive. But it is the best afterall.

Overclocking simple to do?

Overclocking on videocards is easy... nvidia has a built in overclocking utility when you install their driver.  You basically can have it find the highest stable overclock, or you can find it on your own.  

You don\'t have to worry about messing up your card, as it won\'t let you move to a setting that your card can\'t handle.  Plus it will only overclock when a 3d application kicks in, and will stay at stock during web-browsing and whatnot.

Now overclocking a CPU, that gets a bit more involved and hazardous.  Although I\'ve ran my Dual Core Opteron 800mhz above stock for the past 1.5 years without any instability issues.

My CPU is running 1300 MHz over its rated speed.
