So you spent the money on a new phone and gave away the old one for background processes?  I can see why some people like phones over the iphone but I couldn\'t trade how smooth it runs over all the others.

I have to agree.  The phone does everything I need it to do extremely well.  Background process just slow shit down anyway.  Only thing that bugs me is programs like pandora radio and such should be able to run in the background like the ipod can.

Yep, that would be what happened. Yeah, the iPhone runs smooth (and for most part, I loved it), but the fact I can\'t SMS / MAIL /NOTEPAD / SAFARI all at the same time, without all of them closing, except for one annoyed me to no end.

As for background processes slowing shit down. It does to a certain degree, but not nearly that bad. Look at other OS\'es and how they\'ve managed it. Really, there is no reason for Apple to have not implemented this.

Uhm, yeah it was.
If a product doesn\'t perform the way you want it to, you purchase something that does.

I mean, this is like third phone in over two years maybe? Had a WinMobile one (gag), iPhone (loved it for longest time) and now this G1 .

Nice update for the OS.  Copy and Paste , plus Messaging 3.0 looks solid.  Still, no background processes make me sad. I will have to check out the next generation iPhone for sure. See where it is at .

Well MMS made it, for the most part I don\'t really care about background processes. As long as what I was doing is saved when I have to do something else (phone call for example).

I am excited about the Palm Pre though. Guess I miss the old days being cool with my Palm IIIx.

I want to dick around with Android, but multitouch is kind of a deal breaker for me, there have been hacks but Palm are the only ones doing it besides Apple.

Ive had the first generation and now the iPhone 3G. Love the thing. I\'m not too big on multitasking on my cellphone -- Drives me nuts (Which is why I picked up a Dell Mini). My biggest gripe with the iPhone was the lack of Bluetooth tethering. Looks like we will be getting it this summer, once iPhone 3.0 is released. The fact that they are now going to allow the use of 3rd part accessories with applications also sounds promising.

Love me iphone.  Only gripe I really have is that the freaking sound effect for the camera comes about a half second before the actual picture is shot.  How retarded is that?
