whoa i\'m way late to the conversation but it was a great game
keep in mind Canada knows that hockey isn\'t big in the states. Thats fine, thats also why for months leading up to the olympics all the canadian press talked about was a canada russia final canada russia canada russia.
playing the americans is always fun because we are neighbors, but we know hockey is not americas game so beating them, while fun, isn\'t looked upon up here as much of an accomplishment. Russia however, it is huge, just as huge as it is in Canada. Canada vs the Swedes is also a huge game for us. Anyways Canada did get to face russia, and beat their ass 7-3 in one of the most lopsided games of the whole olympics and one of the worst games for the russians ever. Talk about anti-climactic.
That being said, the Americans had a fucking fantastic team this year and even americans who don\'t care for hockey should be proud that your country is excelling and improving in a sport that doesn\'t have the kind of financing or fan base that the other 3 big sports have. Weather you like hockey or not, it is a supremely grueling game and the Americans gave Canada one hell of a good game. One that while already forgotten about in the states will be remembered here in Canada for years, even generations probably. Everyone will always remember Sidney Crosby scoring the overtime goal for gold medal hockey, on home ice no less.
have I mentioned before that I don\'t even really care about hockey? I don\'t even know how to skate. But the game was exhilarating for us, even non fans. Thats because, hockey is our game and it brings forth pride and patriotism. My phone rang off the hook for two hours straight after that game, the whole country was in a frenzy. That doesn\'t happen a lot up here.
Then my good mood was quickly ruined by the closing ceremonies. The thing with the clown coming out of the ground to fix the broken pillar I thought was funny. The parade of stereotypes that followed after was cringe enducing embarrasment. Fucking beavers and canoes and maple syrup and mounties. Whoever designed that show needs to have their throat slit and drained into the stanley cup and passed around the country so all canadians can have a sip.

hated the closing ceremonies. hated them. opening ceremonies sucked cock too but they didn\'t intentionally humiliate the country at them.
