Splinter Cell Conviction
« on: February 26, 2010, 03:43:13 PM »
It took a ridiculous amount of time for this to come out, but this game is looking bad ass. I loved all the splinter cells, even the last one which got a lot of flack for whatever reason (people complain if games stay the same...but then they complain  if they change up the gameplay...stupid)

im probably most excited about the coop, more than the story. But i have a feeling it will be pretty short. either way, I love how they went out of their way to make it a more collaborating coop more-so than just 2 guys that happen to be playing on the same screen

pretty disappointed in the demo

I\'ll hold my judgment till the full game since the demo looked like it had less bad guys in a certain area than a gameplay video I saw, so the full version might be a little more difficult.

Dont have too much of a problem with the faster movements. But i was skeptical of the spot and execute system (press select on 1-3 guys, and hit a button to take them all out while you do nothing) and it was by far the worst addition to the game.

maybe itll be better when theres like 4 guys in a room and you can spot 3 of them and take one down by hand, but when there\'s just 3 guys and your in cover, it takes absolutely no effort to clear the room.

should probably play the demo a few more times to get a better hang of the game, but so far...meh

IGN gave it a 9.3..not that you ps3 fanboys give a shit :D

doubt it\'s as good as god of war 3, since that got the same score. But still means they had high praises for it

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/108/1082854p1.html

The main thing that keeps me from being 100% about it is that IGN said the campaign is 5 hours (which usually means like 7-8. especially when the developers said it was like 10). Granted the coop campaign is 6 hours and there\'s other coop modes that will be fun, 5-7 hours still seems like a jip, especially after waiting this long for another SC game

I\'ll probably get it anyway since red dead redemption and reach are probably the only games on my list in the forseeable future. Kinda got turned off by the latest Alpha Protocol clips

Tried the demo, nice looking, not bad, but the AI seems so weak, hope the final game is not like this.   I was just upstairs, shooting down to some guardsmen, then I went close to their room, and they were into the room steady like chickens, turned to the wall, as they didn\'t know someone was shooting from outside in their ass, I was so disappointed !

I had the same worries after playing the demo, but I\'ve played the full game a lot, and on realistic the AI is decent. Obviously the lesser difficulties are more forgiving

AI has always lacked in video games. It\'s definitely the area that has the most room for improvement. so there are some areas that need improvement in splinter cell.

but the AI in conviction isnt worse than any other game out there. I\'ve only run into one ridiculous instance where I got seen really early on a part of a level, and ran back to the beginning of the level where I could basically stand on the other side of an open door and they couldnt do anything about it

I wouldnt recommend buying the game if you dont love the gameplay. It\'s pretty bad ass marking 3 dudes, dropping down and killing one guy then killing the other 3. Definitly a solid rent though

That\'s why multiplayer works for me.  I have only played a little bit of the single player in Modern Warfare II.  Although it was great and I need to try and finish it.  I did finish World at War though.

Thanks for your thoughts Viper, I tried the demo at my friend\'s home but I don\'t remember what difficulty level was; you are right, the AI is the area which needs more improvements in videogames, but what I saw in that demo is not even 1/10 as credible as the AI I saw in KillZone2 for example; I know I tried only a demo and probably played it at normal difficulty, and they are different games to compare; anyway I understand your point and AI, talking in general, is the area which needs more work and improvements in today videogames !
