More from the rumor mill. Latest PS4 rumor is that Sony is ditching the Dual Shock design for a controller that has an LCD touch screen and possibly biometric sensors. Kinda like the Dual Shock I have grown accustomed to gaming with for the majority of my life. Interested to see how this plays out or if there will be multiple controller options in next gen.

A "senior games studio" source speaking to CVG claims Sony\'s research and development department has been busy testing numerous controller designs for the still-unannounced next-generation machine. Biometrics technology is capable of reading data from a gamer\'s body, including heart rate and temperature, among other things. Half-Life and Portal studio Valve is also experimenting with the technology.

This information is backed up by other sources who told Eurogamer that Sony has been testing a PS4 controller with a touch-screen and biometrics functionality for as long as six months. The designs reportedly change every month.

The DualShock controller was introduced with the original PlayStation in 1997 and a version of the pad has been used in every PlayStation console since. It is not clear if the DualShock will be replaced entirely by a new controller or if the PS4 will be compatible with older inputs, similar to the way Wii Remotes work with the Wii U.

I heard something about this on a podcast, a short while ago. Supposedly the biometrics would read your current state of mind -- Affecting the game experienced based on how relaxed or stressed the player might be. Could be cool -- Could be gimicky, (Like PS Move).

That definitely would be a cool feature to have for certain games, especially games like Dead Space where your stress level has an impact on what\'s happening in the game. Dunno what they would do to incorporate it into the games but I\'m sure they can figure it out.....unlike the PS Move :)
