Sega should go multi-platform and compete against EA.........
« on: December 14, 2000, 11:58:40 AM »
I think I know the real reason why Electronic Arts(PS2,X-Box)did not develop for Sega, because they are trying to compete against Sega\'s 2K series, you could tell in the interview they did yesterday, "We like Sega, but we look at how a company can suceed in the market". What a bunch of bull that was, when NFL2k1 outsold Madden 2001 by 33,223 in sells, I think that\'s it.

This would be a fantastic way for Sega to re-establish there name as a good gaming company.  They could out-sell EA\'s games and re-establish there good name into the casual gamer.  Making games for Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo would help them get out of the debt they are in, and help them get back on there good feet.  While they are developing for other systems they can start reassigning positions in the Sega Empire, and assign a new team to start making the Dreamcast 2 set for 2007.  But I do warn Sega not to get into any of Sony\'s and Microsoft\'s attempts to offer stock to them, because if they give into that these two corps will try to buy them with ease.  Back to the topic now,  Sega should buy atleast 700 developing kits from Sony, Sega, and Nintendo.  Why the big number you ask, well EA ordered 555 from Sony, and 500 from Microsoft.  If Sega doubles that number they can actually have a bigger advantage of making more games than they can.

Sega should start this progress in 2002 and continue until Dreamcast 2 is ready to be released.

Let\'s see how EA would respond to that.

That would kill the Dreamcast.  Besides that, you have limitations.  After all, EA was a bit rushed on the first PSX version of Madden... which is why it was cancelled.  I don\'t imagine it\'s too much fun being a mercenary developer as opposed to a first party.  One of the reasons the DC ports are so good is because it\'s so damn close to the Naomi machinery.  It\'s so much better when you have a say-so in the machine/controller thats being built.

If they do do it, here\'s how they should:

1. Keep some key games as DC exclusives (sorry, but sports is one - at least 40% should stay DC exclusive)
2. Give their system 6 months of exclusivity on all titles

The main thing is, improve Sega the developers visibility... as well as the visibility of their franchises/name...
