As games become more advanced visually it would seem that gamers don’t have the ability to actually play them because they are so stunned by the cinematics. However, a new controller is currently being developed by Sony which bypasses all the innovative gameplay with video games and focuses solely on the cinematics so you can sit back and just enjoy it like you would a movie.“We wanted to create a controller that would skip past all the gameplay and focus more on jumping immediately to an embedded movie scene designed to show the users how to continue to the next stage using Hollywood-style animation, “ explained the Sony America exec Shane Blythe.Currently the design layout is still going through a variety of different models to help find that special comfort to make the gamer feel relaxed while they are watching the game. Gone are the slippery, unreliable joysticks, though a D-pad remains for those who want to relive the days of the past, but on the right is the classic X button rather than a cluster of several confusing buttons. Sony is still unsure if the new controller will have rumble features because it might distract the gamers from watching the cinematics.“Controllers in this generation have way too many buttons that are hardly used during the onscreen prompts, and we feel it is just a waste of buttons. With this you have one button that you only have to worry about and the experience can be different with each finger you use,” stated Jeremy Foster, lead designer.Sony wishes it could have been ready in time for The Order 1886 but promises they’ll have it on store shelves before the next Quantic Dream production.
