This is interesting to me. I don't know how this is going to turn out for them. MGS is a giant of a franchise and with the exception of any game that had Raiden in I love them. So what will they do? will they make another stealth shooter? That is a pretty big pair of boots to fill. That being said I hated Halo but love Destiny. So if Bungie can pull it off there is a chance Kojima can as well. This is either going to be really good or really bad. I don't see a in between for this game.
Oh come on. Raiden wasn't that bad. Yeah he was a bitch in MGS2 but he made up for it with his badassery in MGS4. Also, Kojima has made other games besides MGS that were given great reviews (such as Zone of the Enders on PS2 and a Castlevania entry). The problem he had, and one reason he wanted to end the Metal Gear series, was he was spending his whole career working on that game because of his fans. He's wanted to branch out away from Metal Gear since MGS2 came out. He only did it mostly for the fans. I remember when he said he wasn't going to direct 3 (or maybe it was 4), he was getting death threats.
I'm looking forward to seeing what he's going to do with his new studio. And I think it will be good for him. He no longer has the shackles of Konami and Sony is usually pretty hands off when it comes to developers creative freedom, especially with a highly regarded figure like Kojima. Silent Hills had some promise but was cancelled by Konami as a final "fuck you" to Kojima.
