Hey guys, just checking in to see if everyone is doing ok with the current world crisis.
I'm fine, everyone i know is ok. Luckily i'm still working as i repair radios for emergency services.
we are on stage 3 lockdowns now so can only move around for food, work (as long as its a necessary job) and exercise.
Hope everyone else is doing good.

thank you for asking.  my family and me are doing okay so far too.  couldn't go to the gym to swim, spa, sauna, and steam though as they are still close so i get bored more so.  been listening to mostly musics at home to past time.  before the places were close, i listen to musics a lot too but more so after the gym is close.  did get some sun and exercises daily by walking around the neighborhood with my brothers.  hopefully they can make a vaccine soon to cure or treat those that are infected with the coronavirus.  its quite sad on what is happening around the world lately.

I'm holding in there here in New Jersey. We have gotten hit super hard. Over 20k cases and we're on lockdown. Only can leave the house for food and essential services (like booze ) and exercise. You are allowed to meet close friends and romantic partners so I have been still seeing my girlfriend when I can and we go out for hikes. Other than that, I'm working from home. But seeing other retailers furloughing employees, I'm expecting to lose my job soon. I'm hoping my job sees my team as essential, but its probably gonna happen soon. But then again, apparently in NJ you can get your full salary until June through unemployment related to COVID-19 so I guess 2 months vacation will be nice

I got furloughed today. I'm finishing out my week and then I'm out of work until June 22 when they said they'll bring me back......hopefully. Good thing I have no shortage of shit to catch up on lol.

in Australia the gov has a system where it will pay whatever company you work with 1500 per fortnight to cover some of your wage if they stand you down until you can come back.  Anything like that in the states?

I'm in the UK and a retail worker. We had to close a couple of weeks ago and I was on full pay until last week. This week as I'm officially furloughed I will get 80% of my wage through the UK government. They company could have topped up the last 20% if they wanted but as they are cheapskates they are not going to. I'm not complaining though as there are worse things in the world than staying and chilling at home.

Souly, I got furloughed because of Covid. I've been working from home for the last 3 weeks but with none of our stores open we have no money coming in.

That's rough kurt. I work for a retailer (corporate office) and they really screwed the people in the stores. It's a rough industry. The company literally makes it's money off the backs of the workers in the stores but get the shaft often. At least that's the case in the States.

For unemployment, in New Jersey we get I think only 60% of my salary which sucks normally. That's hard to live on since my state is a very high cost of living state. Among the highest in the US besides California. But with the CARES Act they passed, people who are unemployed should get $600 extra per week. I haven't seen yet what I got from my state (since I can't file until my last day Friday) but I think between the two, I'll get paid more than if I worked, which makes no god damn sense lol. And they're sending $1200 to every taxpayer. I have no idea where this money is coming from considering our president kept saying we're broke before all this

Either way, I was burning out hardcore at work lately so I'll take the 2.5 month vacation. I can work on the site, do some woodworking, catch up on gaming and finally finish Death Stranding, and do all the household projects I've been putting off the last 3 years lol. Oh and my Jeep is falling apart so I can get that fixed up too

My work is going the opposite, since we repair radios we're getting radios from all over the world while other branches of the company close down to prevent covid spreading. Since we're a small team it's worked out in our favor (if you'd call it that) So I've been lucky enough to keep working but my risk of getting covid has increased a lot. So we've put protocols into play to help reduce the risks as much as possible.

"Conspiracy mode activated" Personally, i wouldn't be surprised if this virus was released on purpose and china are hiding their true results.  Where's Mulder and Scully when u need em.

Count your blessings you still have a job. As of 3 today I am furloughed but at least I have a job in a couple months to come back to. Maybe sooner (though god I really hope it's June 22nd. Gonna do so much in that time to rediscover myself ). What kinds of radios do you guys do?

Haha. I don't buy it. But then again, I don't really buy any conspiracy theory. From what I know about viruses (done so much reading about the biology and whatnot since this all started) and how they evolve, it doesn't surprise me this happened, considering how disgusting those Chinese wet markets are. They're ripe for disease. I wish Bossieman was still around. Wasn't he a scientist that did this kind of stuff?

It is funny you mention it though. The Epoch Times sent out a free news paper in my area and I got it in my mailbox. It's like 20 pages just shitting all over China. And an article praising Trump. I've been pretty down lately. I may read it while taking a shit tomorrow for a good laugh to uplift my spirit

we repair mainly Motorola radios. APX, DP, DM, MTP, SL, CP, both mobile and portable versions of just about everything. I've most likely missed a few.  The emergency services use APX mostly. It's a good job that i enjoy, can take time to repair a radio and you have to do it right since they're intrinsically safe. Even a slight screw up can cost lives. So we have guidelines that we follow from Motorola themselves.
