Please help

Ok, I am new at this, so please bear with me.

I got the PS2 for X-mas and everything works fine.  However, when I am watching DVD\'s, the sound seems to be really low or muffled, especially the dialog.  How can I correct this.  Right now I am using just the cable adapter to connect to the TV.  I do not understand all of this technical lingo on how things work.  I just want to know how I can get the movies to sound like they should.  I don\'t have a home theater system, just a TV I bought a few months ago.  It has surround sound in the TV (for whatever that\'s worth), but not all of the speakers that everyone but me seems to have.  I just want to know if this is normal or what I have to do (in the simplest terms possible please).  It sounds fine if I turn the volume way up, but the dialog seems to get drowned some times.  I am not sure how all of these things hook up (i have the TV with picture-in-picutre, a vcr, and a digital cable box...which i am getting rid of soon) and I am not sure how everything should be hooked up to get everything to sound right.  Any suggestions?

since you are using your TV\'s speaker(s) your vocals are obviously getting stomped.  I believe there is an option in the DVD PS2 menu (it\'s one of the icons that pop up when you put in a movie) to tinker with the sound...0, -3 and +3db if I remember correctly.  You could try playing around in the menu options and will hopefully find a compromise.  

If you really want to get the most out of the DVD experience though you may want to consider investing in a decent Dolby Digital receiver, 5 inexpensive bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer.  There are actually package deals on the web where you can get everything for under $600.  IT won\'t be the best gear in the world but it will certainly wet you appetite.  Good luck!

Do you have a stereo? If so, you can hook the video connection to the TV and put the other two on a stereo. Other than that im not sure what you can do.
