Spec Shift

Microsoft changes the specs on the Xbox, and IGN Xbox digs the dirt with J. Allard on the details.

Polygon performance: From 300 M/sec to 125 M/sec
DVD movie playback: Now requires remote control accessory

I did not see a thread on this anywhere so please give me space in your hearts if this infromation has already been posted.  But I thought you would all like to see this article if you were not already aware of it..  So here ya go, go read the article and let us all know what you think..  I made me laugh this morning, just because of all the debating going on.  But really I could care less.

Yes, it has been discussed already, IGN got their facts wrong.

The clock speed has dropped from 300Mhz to 250Mhz, giving a drop from 300mpps to 250mpps (these are calculated only, i.e. not drawn).

Rendered polygons (i.e. textured+lit) drop from 150mpps to 125mpps.

we have heard that the X Box has being reduced in power for sometime now, but thanks mate for the INFO first time i have see the "REAL" Spec\'s .

Mmmmmmmmm whats Microsofts next claim, that the X box is being produced by a Robot Army in Area 51 and can be used to launch Nukes, oh sorry Sony that Claim has already been done Before (Saddam The PS2 Snatcher take note !) LOL .

I HAVE to Say "REAL" Spec\'s because i don\'t want to upset any Microsoft Fanboys out there.

I can see one faction of Fanboys Hanging themself as i write this .

well its better to become clean unlike to dissapoint like sony LOL even 25 million polygons on ps2 would be nice.

to there are ways to give the illusion of AA,without having to take cuts in performance, and some developers are are taking advantage of themhowever ,until SOny comes up with a specific and easy ways to implement true AA that dosent take major hits on performance, you probably wont be seeing a huge number of games take advantage of it.

ooseven,

Xbox specs have only dropped from 300Mhz to 250Mhz, that\'s hardly a massive drop in performance. :)

Anyway, this has been discussed in detail already.

Well i am sorry Doctor but last time i looked at the X Box stats, beleve it or not they where going to put a 1Ghz processor into the X box. it seams to me that every day that gose by Microsoft gets real about their console.

So much for the Giant leep in Gameing where where promised.

yep they all make that statement, they also always say this was using only yadda so little much power. all companies do it.

I hate PR and posing cg as in-game or puting nothing put cg on the back of game boxes.

yeh i hate it too mate.

it\'s all the PR fault
Disinformation spread by the PA\'s who should get themselfs KIA with some HV DC and become DOA, or maybe MIA in the Former USSR with the KGB chasing them wanting to inflict CP on the little SOB\'s.
