whomever wrote that 3d engine should be CAPPED. Take Two (made GTA) has the rights to make 2 games using the Halo engine. GTA3 would be good if it used that engine...

umm dude, the game is early in developmet still, and these are scans taken from a magazine. There is obvious quality loss.

I posted them for reference purposes so people excited about the game could get a glimpse into it.

For early development shots that are scanned from a magazine they look very good in my opinion. I like the shot with the crane and the sunset. Looks like a true 3D world in which to be a criminal-I like.

Hopefully they stick in a bonus mission where you wake up on October 26th 2000 and have to steal a certain number of PS2s from several locations and sell them to the local, videogame-playing, drug lord. That would be interesting....

It\'s supposed to look cartoonish.  The previous GTA\'s were purposely made to not be ultra-realistic.  I\'m guessing to make an imprint in people\'s minds that it\'s just a game, far from the reality of running over and shooting innocent bystanders.  And imo, I think it looks better, it just feels like GTA.

yeah I must say that is pretty impressive, for not nearly being done and all, but were they really scanned?, it doesn\'t look like it, but either way the game looks like fun specially if you can kill cops and run around steeling cars, which you myst be able to do, hence "Grand Theft Auto"

A.) Yes they are scans
B.) The scans make everything blurry, the actuall game will be sharper, I don\'t know how much sharper
C.) It looks pretty good
D.) It says "Work in Progress"
E.) What long load? (I love DSL!... hehe)

in my ops2 magasine it has shots of GTA3 and it does look better than that. me thinks its gonna be a fun game, but i think they should\'ve kept it in 2d

impressive indeed...!!

I mean... the screenshots are taken from early-in-development game and think of all the traffic...

really, I don\'t care about how detailed the faces of the pedestrians will be, how good the cars will look if there\'s:
1) Plenty of Traffic
2) As frantic Cop-chases as previous GTA\'s :)
3) As large cities
4) MANY pedestrians to smash.... BHOAWHAWHAW

now imagine that game running on 60fps and you got your dream-game...

congratz on the 3000 posts ddaryl!

I think it will be alot of fun killing ppl randomly in 3d.
I never did the missions in the other ones I just drove around killing ppl.ohh the memories.

I did exactly the same thing... I got bored of the missions, got some cheat-codes, opened all the cities and just drove crazy... JUST DROVE and killed ppl then looked out for the cops and killed them too... best moments was to close road with few cars and then blast everything with a rocket launcher... OHHH... this was really fun in GTA2 where Army came and you took time how long you survived... Oh the memories, I agree with you noone...

Hmmm... I hope GTA3 will be as good in playability as GTA2, and that 3d view suits the game at least as good as the 2d view... then the graphics; i don\'t mind if they keep as good as those pics... and not too buggy.. I\'m happy and going to kill A LOT OF PPL... RELEASE THE ANGER, RELEASE THE HATE!!! BHOAWHAWHAW.. and get it back while you sleep.. the evil circle of EVIL... bhoawhawhawhawhahahw..

It was strangely satisfying running over a whole mob of krishnas. I hope to see that again.

...what\'re ya\'ll starin\' at...

:nut:

It was quite cool in the original GTA, if you collected a huge number of cars and parked them near each other. Then let rip with the rocket launcher and see how many explosions you could chain together. Mwahahahaha

I also found it strangely satifying to get out of the car and kill ppl with my bear hands (then I tried that in real life and got my ass kicked.) kidding of course :D
