So much Xbox talk, what about Gamecube? and more
« on: January 09, 2001, 10:54:17 PM »
From what I\'ve seen the Gamecube seems to be able to stand up to the Xbox (Yes the Xbox is like 750mhz and the Cube 450 but the way the chips work the cube could acually be faster) and offers more then PS2 (in terms of chip power)so why doesn\'t anyone talk about it? The screens I\'ve seen of the game cube are the best looking pics on the net I have seen. Along with the fact nintendo is proven in the console world where Xbox is not.

Then there are the games, by the time Xbox and Gamecube come out PS2 will have a ton of games out like the dreamcast does now. A good system is only half, it takes good games and enough of them to make a great system. I think PS2 is a good example of this right now. The amount of games out there right now are pretty poor. I think I\'ve played just about every game for PS2 up to this time, I find myself playing my DC more then my PS2 right now because of this fact.

I am not a Xbox hater, but I think all this hype and its going to be better then PS2 is crap. In my eyes its mircosoft\'s way of trying to get at the poeple w/o enough money to buy a PC and make even more money with so many port games already slated.

I have one last question, kinda like a poll. is there even room for a 4th system? I think Nintendo/sony/sega is enough myself....What do you think?

Nintendo does not hype up their products to the degree of Sony and M$.  The N64 is debatable since many of the ****** gaming mags did most of the hyping anyway.  Plus Nintendo is known to keep their product under wraps until very close to its realese.

As for the poll, I think 2 systems is enough, 3 max.  4 is a bit much.  But I think I will be owning all anyway, heh.  I just wish there would be more mergers in the gaming industry.  So much talent, can\'t they all just get together (I didn\'t say along :) ) and make 1 or 2 super consoles?  Mmmmm maybe not but I would love it, and so would my wallet~~~

Well you know people like to discuss more on the bad things rather than the good things. Well, X Box has the worst things than any of the next gen consoles and then come the X Box fans (I ain\'t saying fanboys) to the rescue. There you go, a debate is made.
A 4th room for another console. Think about it this way, 2 is a company, 3 is a competition and 4 is a crowd :p

I look forward to both GC and Xbox because they\'ll both be great and powerful IMO. In the end it\'ll mean more games to choose from and I can\'t see that as a bad thing (even if I didn\'t want either of the two consoles).

I hope the market has room for all the four major consoles. I hate to see someone loose. :)

Ive Downloaded so many gamecube movies from my work, and so far imo gamecube looks much better than xbox.

If they can pump out lugi mansion or a new mario title like in the demos, Ill be in gaming heaven.

Nintendo have done a good job designing the system - they have a shot to take back the market ..

Frankly, I do not care.  I have the system I want, and that\'s all that matters.  I feel the Gamecube will be the N64 all over again, with enhanced graphics and sound.  I don\'t know why Nintendo hated rpgs, did they get forgotten for a reason, or was it accidental.  I remember one rpg and one only, Quest 64, and that had the most rip off ending you could ask for(a little scroll comes up and tells you the ending).  Work so hard and get nothing.  Now I\'m hearing something about Orge 64 or something, but really what happened to the rpgs.  For me, RPGs is what I wanted, I wanted a system with a lot of \'em too.  That\'s just what I got.

hmmm.. I have nothing against GC but I agree that it isn\'t hyped nor showed around with big pictures featuring Shigeru Miyamoto... Nintendo is still quiet, the opposite of MS. I think this is only good; X-box is starting to annoy many ppl this early... :D

Hmmm... Let me start saying that I\'d buy GC just to see how good the next mario game will be, how fun the next mario kart will be, how good Starfox 3 will be... and so on :)

I just love those games because I grew on playing them.

But sadly I don\'t have money to buy another console :(

You want some GameCube talk?Look at this official spec sheet everyone, notice how the X-Box doesn\'t really blow anyone away anymore.

Also,RESIDENT:EVIL 4 WILL BE ON GAMECUBE(and ****-box,dc...)....Yeah its true but IGNCube took down that article yesterday.:(No exclusive RE game for Sony. But Nintendo still has RE:0.:)

An NGC RPG is expected ...(Retro is making one too)
http://cube.ign.com/news/29795.html

Konami brings two RPGs to GameCube...er....GBA.

Tekken might be coming to NGC...er....stupid GBA.
http://www.nintendoweb.com/news/0101/009.html

I for one believe NGC will kick some extreme ass.I don\'t know why anyone ,with the exception of idiots, wouldn\'t like it.

I own DC,and I plan on buying PS2 and especially NGC in the future some time. So,I guess I kind of agree with you. Three system is plenty for me.I\'ll get all the great games I can handle,X-Box won\'t interest me at all when I have three systems.:)

Gamecubes specs are more nicer :) , more design went into it and all.

But most importantly it has the nintendo and only nintendo games !

TheOneBillyGunn:

  Nintendo hates rpgs?

 uhhh... no.

Since, the N64 has barely any rpgs, consequently, Nintendo hates them. Ummm... where am i missing the connection?

The big reason you don\'t see many rpg\'s on the N64 is because the lack of 3rd party support.

BUT, Nintendo does have its share of rpgs - Earthbound, Fire Emblem, and Zelda (Not really a \'traditional\' rpg, but its still a \'role playing game\').

The reason you didn\'t see any Fire Emblems is because Intelligent Systems had a very hard time working with the N64 - it won\'t be like that with the GCN.

And The Gamecube will not be another N64.

I\'m excited about the gamecube!
In fact, nintendo made their own CPU and made a smarter design then the xbox. I will proabably buy it and skip the xbox, of course opinions do change, but I\'m pretty sure they won\'t.
And unlike the xbox they have RPG\'s.. I LOVE RPG\'S!

OK one thing Nintendo DID NOT MAKE THERE OWN CPU.!!!

Its basically a slightly enhanced for gaming Power PC model (macintosh owners anyone) made by IBM.

And I am so sick and tired of people *****ing about MS and XBox on this forum.

1st of all we haven\'t seen the final product yet, and at least MS had the decency to demo real games not plain demos. MS showed actual footage from Munch\'s and Malice, Nintendo through together realtime movies. and I was pretty impressed with the inital offerings. textures look great high polygon rate. But of course everyone here doesn\'t want to actually think MS has a monster on there hands

2nd of all NVidia is doing the GPU. Nvidia knows there **** and for that reason alone I believe there is a lot more left in Xbox.

3rd. 64mb of ram, and a harddrive built in will allow alot more thing to happen in Xbox then in GC and the PS2, we\'ll see if SOny has something up there sleeves with its add on and if they can make it work.

so whine your little whine about MS and Xbox, but heck its about games, and MS has more 3rd party support then GC,

But I have a better idea why not forget about it and judge them when there is much more to judge them on

E3 should be the key

and its obvious MS is not going to dominate the world market which is my only fear of MS, so don\'t rule it out cause of plain bias hate.

You want my opinion. I say MS wows the crowds

A lot of people here dispise MS and to some extent Nintendo, because they\'re going to release consoles that are more powerful than PlayStation 2. And Sony has made some \'mistakes\' with PS2 - I write \'mistakes\' because they\'re not really mistakes, but rather decisions that doesn\'t exactly make the PS2 look very favorable at this point of time. So of course many people are scared about Xbox and GC being easier to develop for, being more powerful, perhaps getting a larger userbase and ultimatly - \'winning\' the console war.

But that\'s life. There will always be better, faster and more powerful products out there. I know we\'ll get some great games for PS2, but the competition is looking better. I hope Sony has something up their sleeve.
