PS2 is doing everything first, these days.
Idea Factory Pairs up Flinstones DVD With Game
Take the DVD, add a racing game, slap the PS2 logo on it, and wala!
January 12, 2001
Japan\'s Idea Factory has a cool new way to sell DVDs and games. The company is bundling the DVD version of last year\'s The Flinstones 2: Viva Rock Vegas with a racing game based off the movie. The full title of the resulting product is "The Flinstones 2: Viva Rock Vegas Hacha Hacha!! Racing."
The Idea Factory is touting this as the first pairing of a DVD and game. The included four-player racing game will feature Fred and Barney as the main characters. They must make their way to the finish line first, making use of stone attacks and speed power-ups. Only one course has been mentioned by Idea Factory - a trap-filled dinosaur course in which dinosaurs attempt to block your way.
This unique pairing will arrive to Japan in March for 7800YEN. Will the game be worth the price, or will it prove to be nothing more than a gimmick to sell a DVD?
Now if X-Men has a video game coming out, will we see a DVD come with it?
