I\'ve got some questions about an old graphics card.
« on: March 01, 2001, 08:02:45 PM »
I know it\'s old as dirt, but I\'ve got a ATI 3D RageII Mach64 card w/ 1Mb Vram built into my Pentium\'s motherboard. I was just kinda wondering what the preformance on it is supposed to be like. I updated my drivers just a few minuites ago, but I still don\'t think it\'s working right. My video is kinda choppy, expecially QT, and some of my games that I KNOW should run perfectly smooth - even without graphics acceleration - are a bit choppy as well. I really don\'t know what to make of it aside from maybe a lack of Vram. My system ram is 64mb, so I highly doubt that\'s the problem, expecially since my cousin\'s 233mhz (only 33mhz faster than mine and not even MMX like mine is) Pentium only has 32mb of ram and can run the same programs I do a hell of a lot smoother.

Anyhow, I did a search on my card on Google and Yahoo but couldn\'t find any specs or preformance charts, even ATI\'s website dosen\'t have anything on it. So if you know where I can find the information I need, post a link.

I\'ve already done a defrag \'cause my main HD keeps loosing it\'s free space. It\'ll temporarilly loose 20mb just by moving a 20k file around. I\'ll probably just save everything off to my other HD, wax my C: drive, and reinstall Win98.

I could buy a new graphics card, but I\'m broke and the next pieces of graphics pushing hardware I\'m buying are the DC and PS2. Why even bother updating my graphics card when my whole PC needs updated anyhow? I\'d be easier just to buy a PIII 833mhz than to try and polish this turd I\'m using now. If I can just squeeze a little more preformance out of what I\'ve got right now, I\'ll be happy.
