I agree with TheOgodlyThing in this thread.
I have read many interviews with Kojima, and whenever he is asked to make a console comparison, he ALWAYS says they are about the same.
For example, here\'s an interview from March 2000;
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/feature.cfm?sid=1723"CVG: What are your opinions on the impending contest between Dreamcast, PlayStation2 and Dolphin? What are the strength and weaknesses, to your knowledge, of each of the systems?
Kojima:
....the hardware capabilities (graphics, processing speed, etc.) among PS2, DC, and Dolphin do not differ that much. The same is true with Internet and DVD-playing capabilities. What makes the difference is how we creators make use of these machines to their maximum capabilities. Even if the machines do not differ that much in specs, the markets constituted by different target groups differ a lot."
So is he
really saying the PS2\'s power is not much more than the DC then? Is he really saying that the GC\'s power is not much more than the PS2?
Absolutely no, but it can be interpreted as such, and is no different than his recent comments about the XBox and PS2. The point is, find any interview and he says almost the SAME thing when comparing next-gen consoles.
The point he makes is that from a games designer\'s point of view, it\'s how you
use the hardware
available rather than how powerful the hardware actually is. Hence from this point of view, they\'re all the same (Miyamoto also echoes this point in interviews).
