DVD Problems
« on: April 02, 2001, 10:28:11 PM »
When i try to play a DVD (American Graffitti, its the only one i have got) on my PS2 it says "unable to read the disc". I push play again and it works fine. But when i tried to watch the trailer it says the same thing but if i push play it starts playing the movie again. Any ideas?

hmmm you should try out other dvds on your ps2 and see if it had the same problem. It could be the dvd that is defective. Hopefully it is and its not the ps2 thats defective. Good luck.

I\'ve got a lot of DVD\'s the PS2 doesn\'t like, mainly old ones, they sometimes skip bits or just stop altogether. i think its something to do with the dual layering but not sure.

I\'ve had a DVD player for a while and acquired quite a bit of movies while I had it.  I sold it when i got my PS2...mainly to pay rent after spending all of my money....needless to say all of my movies work pretty much perfectly on it.  I do have a lot of first and second generation titles and they work fine.  The only movie that I have had any problem at all with is American Beauty, which is a newer title.  The audio is out of sync sometimes, but all you have to do is pause the movie and when you "unpause" it it will be fine.

My X-Men DVD skipped numerous times. I took off the "Parental Control" setting and it played fine every time after that. I don\'t know why that worked, but you could give it a try...it couldn\'t hurt...:)

Also...when you take off the "Parental Control" setting, you get more options than before...

~Peace Out~
