Steering wheels multi-patform use?
« on: April 02, 2001, 01:17:08 PM »
I know this is very unlikely but does anyone expect that in later games it will be possible to use a usb steering wheel that was bought for the pc on the PSX2. The reason i ask this is that i already own a force-feedback steering wheel for the Pc and don\'t really want to buy another one just for Gran Turismo.
thanks in advance for the replies.

I was wondering the same thing.  The official steering wheel for GT3 is a Logitech and looks just like the PC version, I\'m wondering if it will use the USB like the PC version.  If it does maybe other PC USB steering wheels will work.

i was just curious about people that use wheels for console gaming.  How do you place it? i mean, pc i understand, just move the keyboard and place it on the desk, but i usually play my ps2 sitting on the ground or on my couch.  I cant imagine playing well with a wheel in my lap.  What do you guys use?  small breakfast in bed table?

Well the Logitech PC FF steering wheel hasn\'t gotten that great of reviews and I doubt they are totally redesigning it for the PS2.

what about a microsoft ff wheel?
« Reply #8 on: April 03, 2001, 09:03:05 AM »
thanks a lot for the replies, also i forgot to mention my steering wheel is designed by microsoft.  However i read in a UK magazine last month that they thought it would even be possible to use the microsoft pc wheels on a psx2!! i suspect that this is false info.  anyone know whether a microsoft wheel will work?

thanks

It is not false info, actually, Shotokou Highway Battle (or whatever it was) is compatible with the MS Force Feedback steering wheel (the combo was demonstrated at last year\'s TGS I think, and got some positive comments). It\'s just a matter of the developers adding the needed drivers into the game.
