If you have not played it yet and you are awaiting MGS2, then I\'d suggest the PSX version of MGS played on the PS2 with the "smoothing" feature turned on.

This is one game where the PS2\'s smoothing feature really shines.  And with great characters, cunning, and action, MGS is a blast.

Of course, if you\'ve already played this game, you may not wish to play it through again.  However, I\'ve found that playing the MGS2 demo has peaked my interest back in PSX\'s MGS again.  Great game.

Just a suggestion...

If you\'re a fan of strategy games then definitely give Ring of Red a try.

If you like driving games be sure to try out ATV OffRoad Fury, and if you\'re a sports fan (and especially a soccer fan) on the 24th of this month ESPN MLS ExtraTime will be coming out and it will be a must buy.

Some sleeper hit PSX games that you may not have played (and should);

Jarret and Labonte Stock Car Racing
Colin McRae Rally 2.0
ESPN MLS ExtraTime
ISS Pro Evolution

Those are four of the best sports/driving games in existance, J&L IMO is the best console racing game available.

Datamage offers a good point.  If you are curious about ROR, do a few searches on the Main Forum regarding same.  Ddaryl has posted a number of helpful discussions on this particular game...

Bozco,

Like Bobs_Hardware said, "its hard to give suggestions not knowing what games youvve already played.".

To start with, what kind of games do you enjoy?  What kind of games do you despise?

I also recommend RoR.
Very long and complex.
One of my favorite games.
I also second Timesplitters.
I recommend DW2.
Great game, completely unappreciated.

I recommend finding a system that isn\'t satisfied with 5-8 hour games and pick up a few of those. It\'s criminal  to charge that much for a game, especially when it has little retail value. How many of you are going to be playing ZOE for more than a week? Not too many I venture. This doesn\'t need to turn into a debate, just my two cents.

Ring of Red is a good LONG strategy game but might not be for you. But I recommend giving it a try

Do you like RPG\'s. The Summoner is nice. Its got some bugs but it was still alot of fun. and it won story of the year from Gamespot

SSX, a great snowboarder, Love it

Star Wars STarfighter is a definite good time

ATV Offroad fury is lots of fun, but I recommend renting it.

Timesplitter or Quake III are both good FPS for the PS2.

Armored Core  2 was good mech fun

Rayman 2 if you like platformers

Shadows of Destiny (or memories) is a great story based mystery game

and you might want to check out MDK2 Armageddon

I didn\'t care for Timesplitters.  Red Faction is the fps to get and if you can\'t wait I got Quake 3 and it\'s ok.  I hate using analogs to aim

I really liked Vandal hearts and Final Fantasy Tactics on PS1 and if you\'re a wrestling fan try out Smackdown 2. You can call this heresy if you want but I prefer Syphon Filter 1 & 2 to MGS.

As for PS2, well I\'m waiting on 3 games in this order[list=1]
  • Twisted Metal:Black
  • Gran Turismo 3
  • Devil May Cry
This is America and I can still pay for sex with pennies

i agree with you 100%  While MGS2 was easily the superior game, Syphon Filter was much more fun to play IMO

If you want to play a man\'s RPG, I suggest trading your heart, soul and firstborn (or about $60) for a copy of Xenogears and drowning in the best RPG ever made by the hands of mankind for about a month:)

Maybe try getting some sport game.  You can keep playing the game, wining or losing a game and not get tired of it.  :D
