hardware review: Interact LCD screen

ok, i know you guys are probably saying this IS for the PS1 not the PS2, but thats were your wrong and ill get to that in a bit.

well to start off i got the LCD screen on Sunday but i had to wait till monday to use it cause my girlfriend had the PS1 i gave her and the screen comes with a car adapter, but not an ac adapter and you need the PS1 adapter to plug it in to a wall when you want to play indoors. when i got home i didnt even bother hooking it up tot he PS1, i wanted to see what it can really kick out so i hooked it up to my PS2, the interact screen has an rca cable hook up in the back, so not only can you play it on the PS2 but on the DC, N64, VCR\'s, DVD player, basically anything that has rca hook up.

i poped in MGS2 and watched the intro the screen look very crsip and sharp, exept for 1 dead pixel thats on the bottom right corner and that kinda pissed me off, but hey its better than a few dead pixels all over the screen :), the color is rich the whites and black do look good, the speakers give out good sound and you can turn it up loud, but it does have its limits, but the good part is that there is a ear phone jack so you can put those on and have in depth sound.

you can change the contrast, brightness, tint, and color to your desire, i hooked the screen up tot he PS1 after ward and played THPS2, it looks great a grip sharper than if you played it on a 27" tv, but come on its only a 4" screen so expect it to be sharp heh, then i turned it off and cloed it, it fold over the front of the screen like a clam shell, and is about as thick as a good sized book so im happy. the screen cost me $130.00 smackers but if you are a hardcre gamer then you will want one of the beauties. i could have added more tot his review but this is all i can think of right now

any questions?

I had one of the original round ones, and it was terruble. The first one had a dead pixel right in the middle. The second one, quit working if you used it for more than 20 minutes. When it did work, I found it much too small to be practical, at least with psx games, the resolution sucked. Psx games weren\'t designed with it in mind, so it was hard to read stuff. Don\'t get me started on the speakers. I read that the newer design was better, so maybe there\'s hope.

thje pelican one was horrible, this one is much better, the screen is bigger than a game boy screen, and it looks fine, if you are expecting to get a 8 pr 9 inch screen your smoking pattutie, the speakers are fine but sound like tweeter, its better if ya use the ear phone hook up, and the screen resolution is crisp and nice, way better than pelicans round screen, and the resolution is great, but reading is kinda hard, the wierd thing is you can read PS2 games words easier, i guess cause of the bits, i like it a grip and if you dont believe my word, here is a link to DR\'s reivew on it, they gave it a direct hit, and PSM gave it an 8 out of 10 they said it may even be better than the offical product

Unknown, does the Interact LCD screen system power the PSone with the car adapter?  I just remember that I went to a car stereo shop and I seen a Alpine LCD and they was playing N64 on it.  The Alpine set-up cost over $1,000!  All you need is a PSone and a Ineract LCD both under $230!

to answer your question i am pretty sure that it powers the PS1 - becuase my friends have it and i remember them saying that they had it in the car and stuff

which also means you can hook it up to your PS2 and watch DVDs in you car

awesome idea really
This Sig is a Work in Progress.

It hooks up to the psone and the screen, but the psone has a different power plug than the psx or ps2, so no, you can\'t watch DVD\'s in your car.

you are correct in one wy, but not all true.

yes the lcd screen has a pass thrue from the screen to the PS1 so when you plug it in the car it runs both the PS1 and the screen, if you wanted to play with the PS2 then you would have to hook up the lcd screen to the car, but how do you power the PS2.. ahha thats where it gets tricky.

you have to buy a dc to ac adapter, they look like a rectangular or cubed box that has 4 plugs like the ones that are on the wall in your house, then you gotta install it  some how, but in the long run you basically have wall plugs in your car under your seat or where ever you want to put it, so you plug the PS2 in the car, the lcd screen to the cigarette lighter, hook the screen to the PS2 and vuala, you can watch dvd\'s and play PS2.

note:
if you do decide to do this, the plug thing is kinda expensive but definatly under 100 bucks, the good part about it is you can now basically you can plug anything into your car that has a normal plug. and play N64 & DC as well

Well, yeah you can hook it up that way. I was just pointing out that you can\'t do it with what is in the box. You could hook up a microwave in your car if you felt like it. :)
