Molyneux, Metal Gear Ray - I think you meant Peter Molyneux.
But, hype happens - and so did happen to Molyneux\'s Black and White. It was hyped to be THE game PC needs - the messiah game wich\'ll show us really great ideas. But it turned out to be just a mix up of old Molyneux-games. I do know that, because I read 3 years every month an article about making of Black and White ( came with a finnish magazine called Pelit ) - and I remember what Peter promised. He promised an universe full of possibilities, but what did we get? An improved Populous.
Another thing is, you shouldn\'t promise much and hype your game if you\'re not 100% sure it\'s going to fulfill the words you say about it - or else the disappointment will be big.
Daikatana, for one, promised a lot - and was very much hyped, but turned out to be just another 3d-shoot-em-up, and a bad one even.
Sequels can be either good idea, bad idea or then just repeating. This has happened to TR. The sequels are just packages of new levels, few new weapons, and maybe a little brighter enemies. I don\'t say the serie is bad, but it sure gets repetitive - I can\'t separate wich TR is best - as there isn\'t much difference - but it was the first one wich kicked the most, as it was quite fresh and new when it came out. That\'s why it sold. The second one wasn\'t bad, the first sequel, and it sold as well - and TR got a reputation. And now it sells \'cause of the reputation, and the name. Core knows this, and is too lazy to show us anything innovative - they just repeat the old formula, as they\'ve found it money-making.
What is this world coming to, as games are being produced for money, not for entertainment?
