Why can\'t PS2 read CD-RW with music on them?
« on: April 18, 2001, 01:52:17 PM »
Why is this? I don\'t know much about CD-R\'s. Could someone fill me in.

Is there a way to make it read them?

it could be some kind of anti piratecy thing sony has, if it detects that its a CR RW it ether thinks

A) it could be a pirate gaMe and dose not play it

or

B) it thinks it\'s a CD packed full of MP3\'s & seeing sony also do music it stop you.

ok they are my idea\'s why it\'s stopping ou they might be right or wrong but thats what i think.

remember your PS2 can tell the diffrence between disks just go to the browser and look what happens when you put a PS2 CD disk in or a PSX disk in.

the icon matched whats in the drive pritty cool or what :D.

When I put it in, it just keeps saying \'Loading Disc\' and it stays like this... weird.

It\'s coz you need to adjust the laser man
The PS2 won\'t read cd-r backups without adjusting it down to 650-700 ohms or so.
Maybe if you buy really expensive high quality cd-r\'s specifically made for music then you won\'t have to adjust the laser.
Anyway, why do you want to play music on your PS2?
Just use a cd player for that hehe

My PS2 will read burned CDs just fine.

##Racer##, make sure you are burning your songs as .wav files and in one session.  Also a CD player will only read CD-Rs or CD-Recordables.  CD-RWs or CD-Rewritables aren\'t read correctly in normal cd players.

ummm.... ok.

what kind of music are you trying to play? MP3s or CD Audio files?

if mp3s, the ps2 doesn\'t do it... duh!

if CD Audio burnt on a CDRW disc (NOT a cdr), then no cd player will read that.

if CD Audio burnt on a reagular CDR, it should work fine... i have done it on my ps2 a million times and it reads the music files fine.

NONONONO.
When you burn music on the a CD-RW it doesnt finalize the CD and wont write a Table of contents, thats how you rewrite it.
The only way for a normal CD to played(i.e. playstaion,playstation2, Head Unit for a car)it has to be finalized and have a table of contents.
CD-R\'s are finalized and have table of contents.
If you are going to record music, put it on CD-R\'s.
