Tecmo chooses PS2 over X-Box and Gamecube!!!
« on: May 03, 2001, 07:30:35 PM »
This week representatives from Tecmo went on record in Japan regarding the Xbox, and their plans to support the console with Dead or Alive 3 this fall. Series producer Tomonobu Itagaki explained why he\'s interested in the Xbox: "The libraries available for the PlayStation 2 are meager. Microsoft is using libraries which most developers are already familiar with, so it makes things much easier for us." Despite that vote of confidence, company Vice President Jinji Nakamura revealed that Tecmo is taking a cautionary approach, saying, "Under the current market conditions, we rank the PlayStation 2 as the most important platform for us, then GameCube, and lastly Xbox. For Microsoft, it all comes down to how many developers they can win over, and that remains to be seen."

I am not suprised at all!!!

Well they didn\'t choose the PS2 over XBox and Gamecube. They just fully expect the PS2 to sell more so they;ll support it more

just a solid business logic

Ninja Gaiden is coming

i agree with ddaryl.... they chose to go more with the ps2 because.... there are and will be more ps2s by the time xbox and the gc com out... its not because tecmo likes sony or the ps2, they are doing it because of the potential money that ps2 games can make...

hehe, i don\'t care, as long as the games they make are good games and good looking games!

we have great plans for Dead or Alive 3," said John Inada, Marketing Director at Tecmo Inc. "Thanks to the incredible graphic and sound capabilities of the Xbox, Dead or Alive 3 will set a new standard for fighting games. When gamers get the chance to see it at E3, I\'m sure they\'ll agree that nothing comes close to it."

Half the time, I think these companies don\'t know what the hell they even want.  It\'s always going to come down to the simple equation (profit for multi-console) > 0 then (game is multi-console).  The only time you can guarantee an exclusive is when the game is almost out, and the company has a signed agreement.  Press statements always seem to be so much bull or non-final info (and this is true of EVERY company).

Of coarse, forever never seems to last as long as people think it does.

on that notion the same could then be said for the FF series. My point exactly.

Besides I do not like fighting games or RPG\'s but I know many other people do.

Just like DOA2 was a Dreamcast exclusive like it was supposed to be.   Oh wait, my mistake, it  came to the PS2 under a different name and had a whole lot of extras. :D  I really doubt it will stay an Xbox exclusive.  DOA3: Hardcore anyone?

And I\'m thats supposed to go against what I said? FF right now is a PS2 exclusive, but, if Square has other plans (didn\'t I read that we might see FF on mulitple systems in the future?) it won\'t stay exclusive forever. That doesn\'t mean that there are certain cases where exclusitivity doesn\'t stay forever (GT3 :p), but this is Temco. A simple loophole, and you can see the game on other systems (in fact, just rename the game, and BAM, a version on another system, and technically still permenetly exclusive to the Xbox, the original DOA3).
