Hands-on: The Xbox controller
« on: May 19, 2001, 03:15:34 PM »
Brief: Like holding a brick - only better!

When you first get a hold of the Xbox controller it fits your hands well...maybe a little two well. This puppy is huge in the hands and makes it feel like every nook and cranny of your palm is being used up by controller. It does fit nicely, but it\'s still a little too big for its own good. The face buttons aren\'t as hard to push as it looked like in pics, but the buttons are too close together, and pushing one sometimes means pushing another. The analog triggers are like the Dreamcast controller - they sink down far, making it very uncomfortable to hold down for a long period of time.
Many people I asked felt the same way about the American Xbox controller. Here\'s lookin\' to the Japanese version.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

The NGC\'s controller is way better than the Xbox controller.  I can\'t stand using a controller with 6 face buttons anymore.  It is way easier to use with 4 face and 3 shoulder (or four shoulder in the PS2\'s case. :))

IMO, the PS2 controller is still the best. :)

According to the guys at Firingsquad, the controller is a whole lot lighter than it looks.

I\'ll try to find the url to the hands on article later :)

I went to E3 and got to feel both controllers.

Personally, I think the NGC controller felt better.  The Xbox controller started hurting my hands after a while.
