First Impressions on Playing Formula One 2001
« on: May 20, 2001, 08:55:23 AM »
I have just pre-ordered my copy of the game with EB and they gave me a demo disk of the game.  It only allows you to play the Belguim track Spa.  The game has fantastic graphics and runs smoothly.  The handling of the cars are superb and the most realistic out of all the F1 games I have played................ever!  I am soooooo excited about this game after playing the Demo I have to say that they game does play as good as it looks!
If you need help,
I will be there for you my friend,
I will never let you down.

you mean its so realistic you do loads of laps with out seeing another car, having to shave seconds of your time, winning by the machine not so much skill of the driver, needing to plan out fuel strageies???? i dont really like f1 i find it boring, but motorbikes is very exciting, lots happening, people overtaking all the time...cool

After reading this thread i went straight into town and got hold of the demo. I have mixed feelings abou this game
yes, it\'s about the best F1 sim on a home console but i\'m quite used to playing F1 Racing Championship on my PC
this game doesn\'t quite measure up to it\'s PC counterparts. I don\'t like the in car view at all, the best view is the \'above
drivers head\' cam. Does anybody know if there are any different  physics models in the full game?
The physics model used in the demo is way to arcady for my liking. maybee it\'s set on arcade mode i dunno.
Texture wise and Gfx wise the game seems ok to me. but now you probably understand my mixed feelings about
this title.

Any more information is welcome.

I was just checking out the Australian Playstation site and what did i see there, Formula 1 2001  will  be released 23rd May. Tommorrow i will be heading down to my local EB and picking it up.
BTW stanzo i read the gamespot review and they said it feels arcadey until you take off the driving aids then it gets alot better.

In Car View ?
« Reply #12 on: May 22, 2001, 09:35:14 AM »
StAnZo, You say you didn\'t like the in car view is it one with a wheel and everything or is it some quasi nose cam ?. I ask this cos\' all the published shots are of the above head view which you say is best. It would be boss if it was a proper ****pit view.

Any comments appreciated.

it\'s just a nose cam with no car onscreen like GT3. i had to laugh at the way your post has been asterixed (*)
when you typed in the word c0ckpit. i just found that amusing. :D
