Latest Virtua Fighter 4 News

Find out about the new character and AM2\'s decision to support PS2.

May 24, 2001

Yu Suzuki knows how to tease. The head of AM2 revealed at E3 that his team would be able to bring Virtua Fighter 4 to the PS2 without a loss of detail or quality. If this means that VF4 is going to mirror its arcade counterpart, the PS2 is going to have one of the best looking games ever later this year.
So why exactly did AM2 chose the PS2 as the recipient of its crown title? Apparently, GT3 had something to do with it. Suzuki seems to be very impressed by the Polyphony racer as a showpiece for the PS2 system and was anxious to unlock the PS2\'s potential for himself. However, Suzuki admits that working with the PS2 system is a bit different from working with the Dreamcast, forcing AM2 to think how to best use the system.

In addition to this bit of info, AM2 has also revealed the second new character to be featured in the game. Her name is Vanessa Lewis, and she\'s joined the tournament (yes, once again, there is a "tournament") in order to avenge her father\'s death. It\'s unclear if one of the other Virtua Fighters is actually to blame for the death, or if Vanessa\'s joining the tournament is just a metaphor for her finding her true self. Whatever the case, Vanessa uses a form of Muay Thai as her fighting style.

We\'ll have more on VF4 in the near future. Get ready for Virtua Fighter mania later in the year!

Sounds like he\'s going to have a very nice looking game.  I wonder what he can do with the ps2 it ought to be very nice.

the ps2 is a mystery. i think it will take awhile t find out the true potential of this system.  people say that the ps2 will be inferior graphically, but as ddayrl said awhile ago, the ps2 will be running at 80% in the 2nd or 3rd gen titles, while at launch, gamecube and x box will be at approx 80%.
sony spent 4+ yeras developing this thing.. so i think they would have an idea on what to do.
sega made their console in about a year, so they were lost behind in technological enhancements
IM BACK. you have a problem with that? get in the back.

I really would like to know what goes around inside
Ken Kutaragi\'s head. For example : when he was developing the PS2 hardware and especially what he
thought when game developers complained about it during launch time.
Did he forsee the "problems" and the " 80% power at 3rd/4th generation" thing is gonna happen or does he think ; " what have I done ?.... "

No i really dont think he thinks "what have i done",at least they are trying something new,and onces developers use every part of the ps2,you are really going to see the games come to life,i mean look at the games that are starting to come out,GT3 being one of them, they look amazing, and i really think you will see more and more games getting up to that standard.
And i really carnt wait to see what he gets out of the system,if any person can then Yu Suzuki.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

If its anything like what the arcade VF4 looks like then Dead or Alive 3 on the X-box will just be blown away IMO

it will take ages to get the best, even though we will think it cant get any better. just look at the ps1, say tekken 1 compared to tekken 3.

The power of PS2 is now starting to come into effect and is still has the best graphics shown so far. It seems like PS2 wasn\'t hyped up enough.
