That dosen\'t look 3D to me. More like a Pseudo 3D, or basically 2D with a few 3D enhancments. This still has a long way to go before reaching the level of VRML web browsing. If you want to check out a REAL 3D web browser.. then check out Sony\'s Community Place browser.
Keep in mind though, that it\'s only a prototype that was made a few years ago. The reality of what they were trying to do just wasn\'t possible (or at least, not practical) over 56k modems. A modern day incarnation of it might have Webpages that are designed more like Q3 levels than anything you\'ll see with the Gamespot browser. Think of the entire Everquest world as just a webpage (granted a BIG webpage), and you\'ll start getting an idea of what can be done with this technology.
These are just some early screenshots of some worlds one of the CP programmers made back in 97. They were designed to be downloaded quickly over 56k modems, so their quality is pretty low even for it\'s time. You can imagine, though, what some further programming and vastly increased broadband userbase will do for VRML.
