LOTR movies!
« on: June 02, 2001, 07:53:59 AM »
AAAARGH!

I can\'t wait for the three Lord of the Rings movies! The first one will be released in December this year. I just saw the newest trailer... It blew my mind. I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

It looks so frigging awesome - it\'ll be Star Wars + Titanic + Pearl Harbor x 10 (except the LotR movies will have a good story/script). Well, I\'m worked up about it, that\'s for sure. :D

Samwise, you enlightened you!

I couldn\'t agree more with you - the new trailer is AWESOME and more; and I swear PJ is the right director for the trilogy!

I am excited as well ( even after seeing the trailer for about 20 times ;) ) - and I. CAN\'T. WAIT. EITHER!

As you\'re so excited and so interested, why not join http://www.tolkienonline.com\'s messageboards? If you haven\'t already, I recommend you to do so.

I\'m Klonkku over there :)

I saw the new trailer today before Pearl Harbor.  It is so awesome, I\'m just in shock.  This was the first trailer I\'ve seen that attempted to provide a synopsis of the plot for those who don\'t know it.  There were no cheers after the trailer, but I heard many sighs and exhales.  It seemed a lot of people knew what they were seeing, and there was a kind of electricity in the theater.  Maybe I\'m imagining.  I think this film is going to do BIG BUSINESS for New Line Cinema.  Did you hear the voiceover line from Gollum in this trailer?  That was chilling.

Sublime, there\'s plenty of time for you to read at least the first book before the movie is released in December!  I cringe to think about anyone seeing the movie without having read the books.  Oh well I guess it can\'t be avoided.

I think it\'s a given, to say the least, that I\'m looking forward to the live action depiction of Tolkien\'s awesome works.

But, beyond the excitement I feel toward watching a quality movie-trilogy based on the first fantasy literature I\'ve ever read, are my hopes of what these films have the potential to do for the genra itself, assuming they live up to everyone\'s respective expectations.

Fanatasy films, good ones to be precise, are a rare breed. Having a major production, based on such a popular series of books, if done well, can become a benchmark for other works to come. Something many people we\'re hoping for with Dungeons & Dragons, which though may have been an enteraining watch, did little to further the genra as a lucrative, interesting venue in many people\'s eyes, especially those of studio execs.

So, yes. I am very excited with the LOTR trilogy. I have high expectations for these films, as do many others. I truly hope they can bring the fantasy genra back to hollywood with class and style, setting a standard, making an impact which will make people cry out, "More, we want more!"

I live in New Zealand so I have seen some of the sets now. They look so cool. It\'s like they built a whole castle in one of the sets. This movie is going to rock hard!

Sublime - you have whole summer to read the trilogy! I recommend you to read the first book ( at least ) - and I can almost quarantee that you\'ll find yourself reading the last page of the Fellowship and then graving for more; and 99% of the cases read the Two Towers and Return of the King after Fellowship - and before you notice it, you\'ve readed the whole trilogy and want to start it again :)

I\'ve readed LotR 4 times in finnish, and I\'m reading Fellowship in English right now. I just can\'t get bored with the book ;)

Are they planning on posting the new trailer any time soon?  I kept trying to get the original trailer to play, but, it was very, very choppy.

The one I saw was called Trailer 2 and was in .RM format (RealVideo). If you download it then quality is actually quite good, though it can be a little bit choppy, but it wasn\'t really a problem for me.

Heh - listen to Samwise! Sam is truly worth the \'wise\' in the end of the name ;)

It IS the best piece of fantasy-literature I\'ve ever read - the world of Middle Earth is just so LIVING...

And the story is... exciting to say the least... and it will suck you in, like toilet would do to a rat if you\'d flush it when the rat\'s swimming in the water :)

I don\'t know if you care about my recommendations, but I follow Samwise and highly, HIGHLY recommend it!
